I have an ATI Radeon X1900 card at the moment I was reading a magazine today and they said the best value mid range card is the Radeon 4770 they said it was about £78 I don't know who has the best price and who is good to deal with I am sure my power supply is 450w and my cpu is an AMD 3800 x2 dual core I have 2 gig ram Is my pc good enough to cope with that card? I don't want a costly upgrade yet so I thought a new card might be the answer. The X1900 is still fine I use it to play Team Fortress Classic 2 and there is no slowdown but in certain areas I go down to 20ish FPS is that bad or ok. Any help appreciated also can I use it without any extra cooling as I haven't a clue about putting fans in etc ;)

Many Thanks

Andy

As Team Fortress 2 is a Source Engine game, 20FPS is not really good...

3870 gets about 80 minimum, so a 4770 should get ~ 100

If you can get a 4850, it should run on the PSU providing it is a good brand. 4770 as far as i am aware is out of stock in Overclockers, and you can not post about competitors in these forums so we can not help you with finding one if OCUK has no stock.

first thing there something wrong here no way can teamfortress clasic perform on 20fps while u using 1900xt. your system should handle it with no problem with 100+ fps. it even should handle team fortress 2.

edit: oh my bad u meant tf2 already. well tf2(teamfortress2) and all source games are more dependent on cpu then gpu 1900xt should handle it fine, i think cpu is holding you back.

i would upgrade cpu then gpu.

Agreed, or just oc your cpu abit and turn the settings down a notch.

Thanks guys i am on socket 939 so an upgrade isn't looking good as it's probably not worth upgrading as my choice is limited how easy is it to overclock the cpu? would I need extra cooling or would what i have already be ok? what does wbc1 mean when he says overclock it then turn the settings down a notch?
