Been looking for the 1.6kg tubs of SiS Go Electrolyte Lemon & Lime flavour powder in my local Tesco store. Going by the Tesco website it shows that the 1.6kg tubs can be had for £16.49 which is a very competitive price.

However, I've been in 3 local Tesco stores, one of which was a "Super-Tesco" sized one and all I can find on the shelves are 500g tubs for £7.50 which isn't a great deal compared to the 1.6kg size.

Asked the staff about the larger sized ones and was met either by a shrug of the shoulders or a "I dunno mate?" response. :(

Has anyone found the 1.6kg packs in an actual Tesco store or is it the case that if its on the Tesco Direct website then it can only be had mail order in that size?.

Cheers for any replies. :)

How is paying £17 for 1.6kg of maltodextrin a good deal? Also why would you want refined fructose, that stuff is very bad! Don't be fooled by the electrolytes added, you'd be far better off eating something like a banana.

Ideas I use for electrolyte replacement are:
1. Buy some good quality sea salt. Him salts are excellent but expensive for what they are - DO NOT use table salt, it's not the same and it's very bad for you!
2. Use coconut water. I get them from supermarket for about £0.30 - £0.10 each. Make holes in the top and pour the water from inside into ice cube trays. Everytime you make a drink just throw a couple of ice cubes into your drink. Very cheap as you'll get about 3-6 cubes from each coconut and far better than those drinks ;)

Myprotein - Maltodextrin
BSD - Maltodextrin

There you go £2.99 per kg

If you want something to sweeten and don't want to use sugar then this is a very good replacement. Looks and tastes like sugar but not bad for teeth. Myprotein - Palatinose Too expensive if you ask me but it's an option for people with a sweet tooth. Or you can always use something like Ribena to flavour your drink which is what I do. I always use the full sugar version and avoid all the sweeteners... yuk!

For £17 you could buy 5kg maltodextrin, couple bottles Ribena and a load of coconuts! Even cheaper if you use one of the thousands of codes available that knock 5% off first order from either MP pr BSD.... might aswell pimp mine MP5500 or BSD18 :D That should make about £50 worth of your GO Powder ;)

Thanks Chong, will look into that, sounds interesting. I have used PSP2, Go and ReGo for ages. My sport is road cycling, I'm not sure what your main sport is but I have also used MyProtein Hurricane XS as part of my training routine so I know that MyProtein are excellent as far as products go. ;)

Try this stuff, Allsports International.
What my sister and brother in law used on sunday for an 80 mile sportive, think they used 3 bottles each and didnt bother at the feeding station with butties or cake.
I prefer it to SIS, find i feel queezy on PSP2 and GO.
If you ask allsports nicely they'll send you a free sample.

Thanks for that link, Shoei.

I've been using Go for a while now and pretty much just fell into the habit of doing so but from what I have seen so far from the replies here there are plenty good alternatives.

Quick question, what is the difference between "Go" and PSP2, apart from the electrolyte content?. Nothing?.
