Been out the loop for a bit after finishing my home cinema and I can't belive how cheap the GFX gaming cards are these days...

well with another price cut was it yesterday to filter through aswell omg i love it. just which card to buy from my 4850.

think this is part of the problem for the graphics cards companies.

such as the 8800gt and the ati 4850 can play more or less anything with room to spare and theres not much games that will test them. or any in next 6 months.unless you have 24 inch or over monitors which the vast majority dont.

think in next two months theres gunna be some stupidly cheap cards available just before release of new ati cards.

^ yup, the 8800gt and 4850 are perfect for a 19" non widescreen TFT, besides crysis, but nothing can run crysis well yet, so that's besides the point :p

even on my 24", the 8800gt was fairly good in most games, but needed a 260-16 to max all games out on it

This is mostly due to ATI giving team green a real ass kicking this time around.
Competition is always good for us consumers :D

the day the new cards come out you will se the older ones crash in price :)
but weather it will be worth buying a older card is questionable, when you consider the low end of the new series will prob be under 200

I m happy :D

cheap upgrade, than leave alone. :D

i7 920 seems rather cheap too about the same as my Q9550 annoyinly

I hope AMD also punch intel in the face

atm AMD seems to be the only one taking risks with new tech.

I know what you mean - I'm running at 1400x900 with an overclocked 3850 at the moment, and it runs most things well enough for my purposes; if not maxed out, then at least pretty high (aside from Crysis and GTA4). I really can't find a reason to upgrade, despite feeling almost guilty at missing out on a 1GB 4870 for £110!!!

Or even a 19" widescreen monitor which has less pixels than a 19" non-widescreen monitor ;)

What's coming out and is there a definite date? Because at the moment I'm saving up and deciding on my next build which I'll be putting a lot of money into so I don't want it to go to waste!

Just a shame there's **** all worth playing on these cards anymore... How many of us are just playing 1 or 2 games that are like 5 years old ? I've been through about 7 cards now since BF2 was released, and with the last 3, I've not noticed any difference.
