Hey all. I searched the internet but all I could find was out of date info.

Doe anybdy know the current night rate for General Assistant on the night shift at Tesco and the other supermarkets? I know it's a tiered thing, but the general rate?

Cheers

Im currently doing nights at sainsburys before i go to uni in sep, but im on £7.75 doing a 49 hour week.

I get £7.65 currently at Tesco but i do day/evening hours so do nightshift workers get a bit more? seems so since you are younger than me and get more heh.

Interesting, I'm getting in the region of £7.60 basic at the moment but get shift premium for working early & late shifts - of about £1.31 or something - I can't remember anymore!

This is with John Lewis by the way.

Standard rate, i am training to be multi-skilled it seems to help with checkouts if ever needed but even if i do not wish to do that my pay stays the same.

Very very nice people work at my store and that matters most for me.

I was out of work a good while, having done 5 years of various accounts jobs too i had a very hard time finding any so i just handed an app form in to Tesco near me which is a huge store too and got a call few weeks later.(the pay is pretty ok considering the days go extremely fast and you get nice benefits but do not know if that varies per store.)

I did nights at Tesco for a while:

Day pay £6.49
10pm-midnight premium £1.35 +/-2p (cant remember exactly!)
midnight - 6am premium £1.94 +/-2p

I think the regular £6.49 is about 30p an hour less if you have been with the company less than a year.
Make sure you work Sat night, as it goes into Sunday morning which is 1.5x pay - Last summer I was getting just over £80 for a sat night 10pm-6:30am.

Day rate is £6.80 for over 18's at the moment. So he'll be on about 6.50 for the probationary period.
+ the night rate obviously.

Sundays are time and a half, kickass because it's like £10.20 an hour.

So not bad wage then for the work.

I did tesco nights a few years ago (01-02 ish) and think I was getting about 7£ something after all the premiums etc. Was one of the best pais jobs i have done

Is that £6.80 Day rate at Tesco's after probation period? How long is probation period?

I Know ASDA only pay £6.12 Day rate (6am to 10pm) after 6months, That's how they manage to be a little cheaper than Tesco's by paying there staff less!

It probably changes from area to area. I can't imagine people in London getting the same wage as people in the rest of the country.

Well you say that but when i stayed in london last year we went in to a couple of Tesco Expres stores and the prices were the same as they are in Nottingham and all the staff looked like immigrants so maybe they are getting paid the same

6 months i think.

And a place can be as cheap as it wants, if it doesn't sell good quality stuff, i aint buying it. They're both budget supermarkets in the end.
