Windows 7 hits RC stage Build 7100

7100 is the latest official build from MS. THe others are leaked and it's up to you to find them.

Build 7227 or 7230 should be leaked tonight so I hear...

this guy is just taking the michael with you guys lol ....wake up and smell the smelling salts.

W7beta is already > than Vista SP2 ....end of.

I find your response rather rude and your debating skills questionable. You will really succeed in life with that attitude - not! :(

Well I agree with what Apple have to say about Windows 7:

"That's Windows 7, Fundamentally, it's just another version of Windows Vista."

Of course they WOULD say that, but I think they are quite right. I think it is disingenuous of Microsoft to portray it as a completely new product. No bad thing though, I like Vista and I will like Windows 7 too (not enough time yet with it to learn the new stuff).

As long as it gives you the option to ditch the nanny hand holding popups then I will be a happy man.

Whenever I use my sisters vista laptop and it pops up for the 7th time with 'Security Alert - Are you really sure you want to do this?' I start to remember why I have used XP Pro for so long.

TweakUAC. Set UAC to quiet mode. Problem solved.

Personally I think Apple should stop throwing stones from that glass house of theirs. Fundamentally, what is Snow Leopard if it's not just another version of OS X and a refinement of Leopard?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "nanny hand holding popups". The prompts are there as a convenience feature to enable everyone to run as a standard user but also have the ability to quickly perform administrator tasks by simply accepting a prompt. It also makes the user fully aware that they are just about to make a change to their system.

May I ask what you're doing for User Account Control to be constantly intervening you?

A friend at work stuck this on his machine after I spoke with him about it. I told him to dual boot with his existing Vista install on a seperate drive. What does he do? Puts in another drive and thinks I cant be bothered to reinstall my apps and does an upgrade! Now his PC is constantly BSODing about and crashing. I have told him to make a note of the BSOD and let me know. I also reiterated the benefits of dual booting and NOT upgrading the OS! Some people eh?

My feelings Win7 is just an upgrade of Vista but its a very good upgrade of Vista. I went back to XP as soon as i could when vista came out but i will use 7

Thats UAC a wast of space on my HD and its the first thing I turn off.
I install Win7 on one HD then after plug the other 2 HDs in and because of UAC
Win7 comes up with "You do not have permission to access the HD"
I have seen people try and go through security on the HD to fix this so they can get to there HD
Me I just turn the wast of space app off.

This is the one thing that is putting people off Vista and Win7 and going back to XP.

Which was a refinement of Open/NextStep which was based on Mach and BSD which, if you trace the BSD roots back, means it's based on a 40 year old operating system in the grand scheme of things. Of course, for Apple, that means it's "a robust and proven operating system", whereas when Microsoft build upon the latest item in the NT branch it's "just a newer version of Vista", forgetting that the NT underpinnings are still as rock solid as 15 years ago and the only real problem was lack of decent drivers at launch (something they don't have to deal with with their hardware lock-in).

Why not just edit the permissions of your second hard drive to allow access to it? Hardly worth disabling User Account Control because you're having problems accessing another hard drive in your system, which can be sorted out fairly quickly anyway.

I hear what your saying and yes I could do as you say.
But UAC to me is like putting your keys in the car to get somewhere fast
and the cars computer comes on and says
" Now do you really want to start the car? are you sure" aaahhhhh
Big hammer on dashboard :)

2 clicks its off..
And they still have not solved the problem or malware turning it off
with out you knowing.

UAC seems the same to me or worse than Vista - comes up with a message even when doing basic things. With Vista I have it in silent mode courtesy of TweakUAC. Seems W7 needs that treatment as well

Build 7231 ISO is doing the rounds..I hope this has the glass when you right click on anything.
But I got feeling MS will hold back all the nice stuff to final build.
