Biker Boxhill Run - Take 2! - 28th June

Lol to be fair that numberplate looks like the size of my current stock one :D I really need to get it changed! Fireskull, is yours 6" or 9"?
 
Put me down as a maybe. Dunno if I'll be able to keep up unless they're twisty roads but I reckon it's worth a try!

For the record I went to Moto Rapido in Winchester and asked for a shot at the Ducati Hypermotard. I can't believe it but the salesman actually said to me I can't offer you a test ride as I don't think you have the means to buy this bike in not so many words. I'm going down during the week to have a word with the manager and to raise my middle finger at them. :mad:

Pretentious *********. They've just lost a sale.
 
it astounds me that some stealers have that attitude,

never had that sort of response when testing the Harley, admittedly having to sign my left testacle away as part of the test ride insurance excess, and that costs more than a yorkshire family home.

I spose you get that sort of sales guy everywhere every now and again

Me and my boss went down there few months ago to have a look and we turned up in a skoda fabia with jeans and a shirt on lol and they were like yea just bring your license next time and you can have a go, didnt tell them I was 21 at the time though :p
Ah well stock ducati's are slow you dont want one anyway suzki :p Get a nice 600cc Husky or CCM :D

And the roads are twisty, what speed can you cruise at?
 
There's a bit more to it than that obviously but yeah, that was the general gist. They have a policy of over 25's for test rides. He said they can arrange something on an individual basis when needs be but obviously thought I was some sort of test pilot just looking for a hoon on one of their bikes. I'm not worried though, I'll go elsewhere :p

What speed can I cruise at? Comfortably about 65-70mph. Pulling my arms off and hanging on for dear life against the wind, about 80-85 :o It takes me a bit longer to get there than your mega powered machines though!

I get this a lot, admittedly due to age (23) though. I went to test ride a Triumph Street Triple, hardly an exclusive/expensive bike and they basically said "you're a dreamer mate, see you later" - they didn't even know my age at this point and I'd turned up on a KTM 950 :rolleyes: I even offered to buy the demo bike outright, in cash, before test riding it. They still refused :confused: :confused:

I'm surprised that Motorapido were less than welcoming. Not what I expect of them at all!

If your willing to give them another chance let me go and have a chat with Wilf who is one of the top blokes there and also runs their British superstock team. I'm sure he will be happy to sort things out for you.

Thanks for the offer but I'll not be going back to them. I'm going to go to the dealer in NI instead :)


Tractor? My bike kind of sounds like a tractor so it'll fit right in :p

Thats crazy! name and shame! :p
a lot of places have turned me away because of their 24 insurance police which I can understand, some even said we could work something out if I was to buy, and one place did for me when I bought my gsxr.
But not had a problem with other places, one few weeks ago was for a 675 Daytona I even told them i would not be buying one or the road but want to see what its like to consider one for track and they let me have it for an hour :D
Dont know what they base it on... the way you look? what you ride? There are plenty of people who ride sportsbikes but that dont mean they are a competent rider lol, hell I turn up in race replica leathers with knackered knee sliders if I was a dealer I would not want to let me loose on one of their bikes :p

Around box hill there is one fixed speed camera heading from Dorking > Leatherhead once it drops down to a 50mph zone. On Sundays / sunny days they have lots of bike cops / VOSA / police everywhere so be careful. Have a safe ride chaps :)
