CRT still available?

Using a Dell P1230 here, 22" flat CRT, and I love it. Very often though, I'm tempted to make the switch, mainly for the higher res, but I just can't do it.... I'll probably keep this til a better flat panel tech arrives on the market. SED maybe, whenever that'll be...

sammy 2233rz is a very good replacement for a crt

was just about to post this

i used to be the biggest CRT whore you would ever meet

just do a search for my posts in this section of the forum to see what i mean

but when the 2233RZ became available i bought one to try it and it has finally displaced my trusty Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 930

Everything isn't perfect though i still have annoying lcd issues like backlight bleed, poor blacks and viewing angles but the increased brightness, sharpness and lack of geometry issues over my CRT make up for the other flaws

also i reclaimed a lot of my desk space

Why? To run at non-native res? Don't bother...will still look better on a LCD monitor.

CRTs don't have a "native" resolution...

Emulated games do look fantastic on CRTs, however, the slight improvement in my opinion isn't worth the ugliness or the amount of space they take up.

Yep resolution was limited to graphics cards on CRT's, i used to run 1600 x 1200 on soldier of fortune 2 before i got rid of it and i think it was only 19".

Then moved to 22" LCD, at lower resolutions you can see the difference in games it doesnt look as sharp.. however i have gotten used to it, the only 1 thing that really bugs me is slight backlight bleed.. really can screw up your gaming in dark environments.

Shame they havent made anything like a slim CRT but with newer tech, and obviously not uber expensive.

Yeah I know, I meant not max resolution.

I would love a new LCD screen, my PC desk bow's under the weight of my 19" CRT and other than the picture it is pig ugly, but, the picture i cannot fault - playing all my games at 1600x1200, realistically what would a LCD monitor cost that would be on par picture wise?
Also, whats the score with the Hhz? My eye's seem really sensitive to this setting and anything below 75 hurts (no pun intended) so the higher the better but are a lot of LCD's capped at 60Hertz?

the way a tft refreshes works differently im the same in regards to hz lower than at least 85hz on a crt being unbearable but using a tft at 60 or 75 is perfectly fine
