What does everyone think of Star Wars Eps I-III?

I actually think 2-3 are better then the rest. It has more going on then the other films. Recently rewatched 4-6 and it was very boring, hardly any lightsaber fights, force use or anything to show off the rich star wars universe.

1-3 are good just because they all look better, the story might not be as good as 4-6 tho. In some ways i wish 4-6 had the better technology but there classics.

Would like to see that New Starwars live action TV series, that would be perfect.

one was a complete waste of time

two wasn't much better

three was probably the best of the bunch but they are not a patch on four five and six. I wonder if star wars would still be great if they made the films in the right order in the first place. i'm guessing not...I wonder if we will ever see a seven?

If you sit down expecting masterpieces of cinema, you'll be disappointed.

If you sit down expecting to be reasonably entertained, with some great action scenes and a good buildup to the original trilogy, you'll probably leave the room happy.

People are too fussy these days :D

What was it like for those of you older ones when Star Wars first came out in 1977?

I remember being in a 200 yard queue outside Grimsby ABC cinema on Freeman St in 1977. The days when cinemas only ever had one screen, but that one screen was absolutely ginormous. Also in them days there was virtually no TV footage of the film prior to release, so you really did go into films totally blind, only maybe hearing friom word of mouth what it was like. I would have been 9 and I'd never seen a film like it before. I am not exaggerating when I say that that film, and that opening sequence shaped a large part of my life from that point, certainly an interest in technology in general.

It's enjoyable, when the light sabers comes out its actually quite fun. The bits in between however are just a giant political snooze fest.

My main grip with them is Lucas complete reliance on CGI. CGI wasn't that good back then and it just makes the whole film look sort of like a cartoon. Completely ruins the immersion for me.

However, it appears Lucas hasn't learnt his lesson cause he did the same thing with Indy 4. Looks like he let his 4 year old son go nuts in paint for the last 15min of the film.

I liked them. I would watch them in order, yes you are going to notice a difference between the two era's however I think they make a great story. In my opinion I think people like making comparisons between the two era's far too much.

Ep.1 was made in 1999 so the CGI will be looking outdated just like the Lord of the Rings movies could be classed as outdated. The first being 8 years old at release date bearing in mind it took, if I remember correctly, 3-4 years to make the the three films so the CGI there, in the LotR movies could be 12 years old.

I do.

Just enjoy them.

I haven't rewatched them but Jar Jar Binks aside I didn't find them terrible or great, they were just fairly average films with a huge budget. Then again I'm not the biggest fan of the original Trilogy so I'm not necessarily best placed to give an opinion on them since I'd never feel the same level of betrayal as some claim.

 wth are you on about? Of coure there's hardly and lightsaber fights or force use. At the beginning of Episode 4 there were only 4 people who knew how to use the force. Luke was still a stroppy angst ridden teen and only 2 member of the Jedi order were still alive and there would be no point in having a load of Sith warriors who could potentially usurp Vader.

I was so upset after seeing Episode I in the cinema, having travelled almost an hour to get there as the local cinema didn't have it and at the time I wouold have only been 12 so definitely the target audience. The podrace was pretty good and the final battle with Darth Maul (epic music even if John Williams robbed it) was excellent nut overall the film was crap. Attack of the Clones, I though, was quite good but nothing which would make it stand out among other films save perhaps the CGI. Revenge of the Sith was excellent from the opening battle which was amazing to see on the big screen to the final duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan (again epic music by John Williams). Overall though the films were let down big time by the rubbish acting (Hayden Christensen could be out performed by a lump of wood) and even Ewan McGregor was quite dull.

Of course the films aren't a patch on the originlal triliogy :)

Episode I - Poor
Episode II - Average
Episode III - Above average

Not a patch on the original trilogy. I didn't watch the original trilogy until around 2002 either and then watched Episode I and II shortly after. You just felt a lot more involved with the characters and story in the original trilogy.

I really hated that they changed The Force from a mystical/spiritual thing into the product of micro-organisms. wtf?

Brilliant. Very world war 2. The rise of the Emperor, fall of democracy. The demise of the Jedi and the return of the Sith. It was very exciting. You just need to stop moaning and actually enjoy the movies. But off course it's cool to hate the same things everyone else hates.

Or they're just genuinely fairly poor...

I enjoyed them and thought they delivered, although I didn't see any of them at the cinema, they still entertained me. I knew right from the outset that they were never going to better the first three.

For me, its nothing to do with the era or the CGI looking outdated. I can accept the time they are from and that their effects aren't cutting edge. What i cannot accept from any film is a general lack of atmosphere, poor pacing or, poor acting. This is why i couldn't enjoy them.

As a big fan of the original trilogy since I was a kid, I was expecting a lot from the new films.

They are ok in their own right, but not the same as the originals.

The first is almost aimed at an age group of 5-12 I think. The introduction of a character such as JarJar Binks sums that one up. The plot is basic and there is enough action and story to keep it going, but nothing special.

The second is where the v-tec started kickin' in for me personally. Bit slow at times but the action from about 1h30 onwards is pretty top notch. The story is pretty good and gives the backstory to the stormtrooper and the initial demise of the Jedi. Also Yoda .Vs. Dooku = Win.

The third I actually want to see again because I saw it at the cinema and haven't seen it since. I remember it being quite good, similar to number 2 except going very dark. Lacked a bit of action from what I remember but the scenes that are there did deliver. I remember the ending was cheese though "Padme! Nooooooooooo".

Pretty good on the whole, some things were a bit OTT or overdone when they could have focussed elsewhere. As an open midned fan I enjoyed them!

I rewatched 1+2 the other day after not seeing them for years. They were still enjoyable. The first one is mostly utter pap but 2 and 3 are prety good I thought. Obviously not even in the same class as the original trilogy though.
