i7 920 seems rather cheap too about the same as my Q9550 annoyinly
Just a shame there's **** all worth playing on these cards anymore... How many of us are just playing 1 or 2 games that are like 5 years old ? I've been through about 7 cards now since BF2 was released, and with the last 3, I've not noticed any difference.
ATi's Dx11 5870's are coming out, and are coming out around Sept. October.
You know what card I'm getting if I get a call tomorrow confirming my job success from today's 2nd interview![]()
Been out the loop for a bit after finishing my home cinema and I can't belive how cheap the GFX gaming cards are these days...
^ yup, the 8800gt and 4850 are perfect for a 19" non widescreen TFT, besides crysis, but nothing can run crysis well yet, so that's besides the point
even on my 24", the 8800gt was fairly good in most games, but needed a 260-16 to max all games out on it
I disagree, they've been out over 6 months now and the cheapest of the i7 range is STILL priced at over £200!
I can't remember the last time there was a range of mainstream consumer cpus (i.e. not FX/EE type products) with such a high entry cost, especially when you consider the fact that the mobos seem to come in at around £150+ too. Core 2 was cheaper, Pentium Ds were cheaper, Prescotts were cheaper, Northwoods were cheaper etc, same goes for AMD. The first quads may have been up around that price on release, but not 6 months down the line.

the *basic* or first set of mobos that came out for I7 are jsut under £200 like the UD3 but thats like the most basic one all the better onces are still over 200 annoyinly. I7 920 has gone down a bit, it was something £260inc vat or more maybe anyways i don't care right now I don't see the point. yet when my Q9550 dies than maybe or I go with AMD.
btw the core I7 920 is £215 so less than I paid for my OEM q9550but one has to buy the board first. so still not worth it.
the reason im holding out to upgrade my cpu is down to the price of them boardsmakes upgrading look expensive lol
probably going to cost a good 200 quid for 5870's then possibly around 320 for an x2 at a guess
They're not mainstream consumer CPUs though, their targeted at the enthusiast market, Core2 and i5 when it comes out are the mainstream.I can't remember the last time there was a range of mainstream consumer cpus (i.e. not FX/EE type products)
