so yeah, im stuck between these heatsinks:

Thermalright Ultra-120 @ £26
Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme @ £34.49
Thermalright TRUE Black Ultra-120 eXtreme £38
Prolimatech Megahalem @ £40

Which one do you think i should get?
See sig for my spec.

Btw, prices are so cheap because they are american prices (my brother is coming over from america next week so can get me any one of the above :D)

and also what fan would you recommend? im thinking the noctua based on:
The Megahalems has been carefully engineered for low to medium speed 120 mm fans producing around 57 CFM - fans in this range are quiet at under 26 dBA

Noctua NF-P12 120mm x 25mm 130RPM - 54.3 CFM at 19 dBA
Scythe S-FLEX™ SFF21F 120 x 120 x 25 mm 1600RPM 63.7 CFM at 28 dBA
Scythe S-FLEX™ SFF21G 120 x 120 x 25 mm 19000RPM 75CFM at 35dBA

Id opt for the TRUE black (bit biased as i have one) it comes with 2 sets of fan clips should you wish to use 2 fans in push/pull.

i think for me its either between the black or the prolimatech. im not sure if i would use push/ pull seenas the pull fan would be right next to an exhaust fan on my case so it kinda seems pointless.
but i dunnorrr:confused:

and the site i would get my brother to get it off you can get an extra set of fan clips for $2.99

Ialso have my pull fan close to the rear exhaust, the 2 fans on my TRUE and the exhaust are ran at the same speed via pwm, so airflow is consistent, actually creates a nice tunnell effect.

and also what fan would you recommend? im either looking at getting a:

Noctua NF-P12 120mm x 25mm 1300RPM - 54.3 CFM at 19 dBA
Scythe S-FLEX™ SFF21F 120 x 120 x 25 mm 1600RPM 63.7 CFM at 28 dBA
Scythe S-FLEX™ SFF21G 120 x 120 x 25 mm 19000RPM 75CFM at 35dBA

Personally ive had great results with sharkoon silent eagle 2000 rpm fans, the noctuas are also highly rated, but ugly as sin and expensive, if your not to bothered about noise the scythe 1900rpm would be a good choice.

noise doesnt bother me (i have a HAF case :p) and yeah the nocuta's are pretty ugly price doesnt matter because i would get them from america as well so i would only be paying ~£12

ordered mine this morning m8, megahalems :D

awesome, you better get some pictures up! let me know what it's like when you get it as well.
when are you expecting it to be delivered?

I went for a megahalems (from germany) and am really happy with it. I have my i7 920 d0 sitting at 3.6Ghz (not had a chance to push it higher yet), 1.19V. This is definitely not optimised yet, but i'm only running at 64 C maximum under Prime95, that's with 2 noctua p12 fans connected. I would certainly recommend this cooler - especially if you are getting it for that price, mine cost me over £60 shipped.

If you want some proper numbers - this review and this are very good.

well from reading the hardwarcanucks review i might as well save my money and just get a OCZ Vendetta 2 for £25:confused:
seenas it beat the Prolimatech Megahalem at stock q6600 speeds and then came out second best in the other 2 tests

The OCZ vendetta is a very nice cooler - great performance for the money. The problem is that its LOUD. On full load it is very noticeable.

As for the megahalems - it may not win at stock settings (though 39 degrees is not hot at all), but look at the temperatures as the chips are overclocked, on an overclocked cpu (high power dissipation required) it is brilliant brilliant. Also bear in mind that the test is using a single Noctua p12 fan - a very quiet fan , so no noise issues at all.

tbh, there is only £10 - £15 difference in price and im guessing the megahalems will be a lot more futureproof seen as it comes with both 775 and i7 brackets

Those are quite good figures for the megahelem on the q6600 compared to the TRUE black, though with lapping, particularly on a hot cpu such as the q6600 a TRUE would really pull ahead, i was able to drop 12'c off my load temps after lapping the cpu and TRUE black.

i think it will just come down to what ever is cheapest because performance wise they will pretty much the same (one will obviously be better at some things and vice versa)
