just pictures really. nothing specific. the last aprilia rsv i had didn't end up too good so just want pictures of them really. :)

here are loads of shots in the members gallery. should keep you going for a while.
If you need anything in more detail I'll take some tomorrow. hope this helps...

Draeger - i seem to remember you having an Aprilia RSV? do you? if so can you post pictures up. or any other RSV owners. :)

Do you want any specific pics?. Can oblige, no worries.

There's not much I don't know about the RSV, any questions, just fire away.

Here are a few pics to be getting on with. ;)

Twin High Mount Renegades fitted ( Ignore the Akra decals, I added them in a moment of madness because I liked the look of the decals themselves ) :-

nice. knew you had one. not sure why but i knew you did. lol

very very nice. considering my experiences with them you'd expect me to never look at them or in their general condition but... i must have loved riding it as every time i see one i smile at it. i know the twin sound too and even though i can't remember ever riding one or owning one i know the sound which is a bit odd.

Well, I can safely say that it is the only bike I have ever owned that puts a huge grin on my ugly mug everytime I ride it. :D

Must be a combination of everything. Power, handling, noise and road presence. I'm seriously tempted to buy the new RSV4, but even if I did, I would not get rid of the Mille. I would keep her. ;)

Again, was tempted a few months back to pick up a Duc 999 that was for sale local to me ( I know the guy, he lives a stones throw away in the next street ) but I had a go on it and was initially quite impressed. Then rode back home on my RSV and had to admit I actually felt it was a better ride. :)

Seriously happy I bought into the whole Aprilia experience. Although I almost dipped out right at the start. I think I have posted the same story on here before but initially I bought a Honda Blackbird from the dealer I eventually got the RSV from. I went back up to pick it up the next day after it was prepped and ready for me and I spotted the Mille sat in the showroom.

Jaw dropped. :p

Had to have it so changed the deal and rode home on it.

Wife wasn't happy at all with the choice as she was looking forward to many touring miles on the pillion of the Blackbird. She now loves the Mille to bits, although she isn't on the back of it that often. Says she can hear me coming home from work a few miles away up the motorway though, which is kinda cool. :p

i seem to remember a few friends saying it was so loud they could hear me coming from a few streets away and had the coffee ready by the time i got there. antisocial? me? :p:D

glad you love it though. dunno why but i seem to feel its was an awkward bike to own but at the same time you'd do anything to keep it good. other bikes i've had have been various cbrs which even the race prepped ones werent so quirky. not sure why i felt it was quirky but i feel that way lol. still, it suited me. right up we had a disagreement. i don't think it was the bikes fault though, citroen berlingos clearly don't like bikes lol.

Good time to purchase an RSV m8. Ape prices have dropped through the floor in the past year or so.

There is a *minted* 2003 Edwards Replica in my local Aprilia dealers for £4.5k. That's a ridiculous price for a bike that was £12.099 when it was new!!.

And "new shape" 2004 onwards RSVR's and Factory prices have been dropping to silly levels too.

Low miles ( 7100 ) and minted, I'm seriously tempted :-

I think I might wait another month or two and then maybe go in and inquire about it, see how far they are prepared to drop the sale price too in order to move it on. Could very well be a complete bargain, especially as I hear a lot of RSV owners are placing orders at the same dealer for the RSV4 and trading in their Mille's.

Not the faired version but close enough :P

that's beautiful... drool............

:D

cheers for contributin persil, nice bike. i've had a kind of afinity with the tuonos but i guess that comes from the similar style bar the looks. big twin engine etc. :)

This might take a bit of explaining. :p

Ok, initially, when the bike was first released in 1998 it came in 3 flavours. RSV, RSV-R with Ohlins suspension, OZ alloys and a load of carbon as standard and the extremely rare and expensive RSV-SP.

By the time 2000 came along, there was a very slight "facelift" as far as design, paint etc goes on the RSV standard model. The Yanks go as far to call this the "2000.05" model as it was the last update to be carried out before the completely facelifted version was launched in 2001. The "2000.05" can be spotted easily by it's gold Brembo brake calipers as opposed to the ( in my opinion ) minging looking red painted ones the first models had. Mechanicaly though, it was unchanged engine or performance wise. As you can see from my pics, mine is a "2000.05".

Then in 2001 Aprilia launched the facelifted "new" model in RSV and RSV-R flavours. The RSV-SP was discontinued. This 2001 model got reshaped bodywork, undertank vent panels, front fairing "ears", resin fuel tank, redesigned tail unit and pillion seat pod. The frame geometry was changed and the engine sat 5mm higher within the frame to line it up with what Aprilia called the "roll axis" of the bike. There were approx 200 changes in total to the design of the bike. There were two limited editions of the RSV-R which were the Colin Edwards replica and previous to that, the Haga replica. Both were raced in WSBK.

In 2003 they changed the tail unit slightly once again and the pillion seat pod also. Paint and decals changed throughout its model years as well.

Then in late 2003/early 2004 the new "twin headlight" model was launched. Confusingly enough the standard RSV now became the RSV-R and what was the higher spec model, the RSV-R now became the RSV Factory. Again, throughout this models run the subsequent paint and decals were changed every so often. The new model compared to the older 1998-2003 bikes is smaller and more "focused". A lot of die hard RSV fans did not like it one bit.

They still make the RSV-R and the Factory, but the newly launched RSV4 is a very important change of direction for the company moving away from what Aprilia are famous and indeed, good at - the large capacity V990 Rotax twin cylinder engine. The RSV4 as the name implies is a V4 design. It's again a very "focused" machine but one which is getting rave reviews from the biking press and is also doing very well indeed in WSBK racing.

So you can see there is a long line of history behind the Mille. It can take a few twisty turns and can be quite confusing at times!!.
