Has anyone tried these kits?

The ones which have adhesive antennae that sticks behind the bumper.

Everything online looks very gimmicky and there does not seem to be anything 'professional' looking so most of me says avoid.

Anyone have them and can comment?

Technically I have no idea how they work, but this is the term that everyone selling them seems to use.

When you say acoustic I assume you mean ultrasonic? From what I have gathered these are not an ultrasonic application?

They work, they look stupid, and the guy in the advert should have his drill confiscated. You shouls also be hung at dawn for wanting to buy something by JML.

JML?

What on earth are you talking about? If you want to make assumptions based on a technical query and interest in effectiveness you can take it elsewhere.

you're wrong you're thinking of different product.

I have the PD1 sensors you're talking about they worked quite well for a while but then the sensor packed in and I havent bothered replacing it yet.

Do you fail at reading or just comprehending in general?

While it is COMPLETELY irrelevant to my query as far as I knew parking sensors (Eg sensors in bumper) used ultrasonic technology for distance detection, I've no idea what you mean about ultrasonic radio waves? Are you saying these types of sensors use radio waves?

I'm just venting at JML, they say "ultrasonic radio waves" in the infomercial, which is a contradiction of terms.

I do get what you're thinking of buing now Paul has pointed that out. I still wouldn't bother tho. But if you really must, a kit like that inside the bumper would be the way to go.

As far as I can see these sensors actually do use radio waves, like a theremin.

Wouldn't bother?

As capable of parking as I am I always park as far away and as tightly as I can to avoid other scrotes denting my doors or potentially reversing/going forward into me.

With the top up rear visibility is pretty low and I would rather have something than nothing and I am certainly not drilling my bumpers.

I want to bother for the sake of my paintwork.

If you need a sensor to help park something as small as your average car - you shouldn't be on the road ;)

Are you serious?

Firstly, read above.

Secondly, are you saying you have never misjudged a kerb when pulling up to it? If not, would you rather not have the risk of misjudging it?

I could parallel park my Focus into spaces people even with parking sensors would not be able to, or even attempt.

Just happens that now I drive a S2000 with a pretty low front end and a hugely long bonnet, I'll get used to it over time but in that interim period I would rather not take the risk out of scuffing the crap out of my splitter. Its a convertible, with the roof up rear visibility is quite low, its even worse if it has rained/is raining.

If you think wanting to be able to park within an inch of an obstacle is synonymous with ability to drive on the road then good for you!

My brother inlaw has this type fitted to his 5 series. Problems he's had is that the inside of the bumper really needs to be scrubbed clean before sticking the strip on as on the first occasion the strip fell off. The second is that they aren't really that accurate but are any of these really accurate?

As my brother inlaw says, they are there to assist in parking as are all sensors but some people seem to think that having these means you don't need to look back or in your mirrors.

Also, no idea if this is true but I heard from the dealer that I got my car from that they have been looking at using these types of rear parking aids as some people didn't like the holes in the bumper devices, heard nothing about them since then though.
