Hi,

I'm looking to replace my car in the next 6-8 weeks. Currently drive a BMW525i which is a great car. Can't really decide on a replacement. I'm undecided between:

Another BMW - likely 5 series, possible 3 series estate
Audi A6
Audi A5 Cabriolet (slightly pushing the budget)
Mercedes.

Not a huge Merc fan. My budget is upto around £650 per month - can go higher but probably don't want to.

Looking to do 25-30K Miles per year so want something thats going to be fun to drive and reliable.

Suggestions please!

Thanks

Big difference between an estate and a cabriolet!

I reckon....

A5 Cab w/ 3.0 TDI Quattro Tip/Man - Nice motor, test drove one a few months ago.

If you need an estate then...

A6 Avant 3.0TDI Quat Tip. I own this car, and love it tbh. I pay approx 550 a month, with 5k down.

Wouldnt go for...... 3 series - too small after the 5. Wouldnt go for a Merc; not a big fan.

Wouldnt go for the 5 series, if you already own one, but thats just me.

Looked at the A6 Avant 3.0TDI Quattro today - very impressed by it.

Problem is the A5 cab is sooo applealing - just no where near as practical... Then again, when has practical been that important.

If we didnt have kiddies i'd be driving an A5 (not cab) with the same engine. :D

That's the prob I have - 1x kid

Plus occasionally for work the boot space is limited (but that's what pre-9am next day deiveries are for when you know where you are the day before!)

Buy a BMW 530i M Sport Touring with Media and Visability pack. Be happy, the end of thread.

I did and I am. I found the 3 too small and the A6 too big (sure it's no bigger than the 5 but it just feels it). With a kid on the way I wanted more space than a saloon. Have tested a lot and the BMW came out on top. However there is nothing wrong with the A4, it's a great car.

A lot of folks slate the interior of the 5 but I love it's minimalism, although you've got to get the extended voice control if you are getting the pre-facelift iDrive.
