Keeping My Room Cool/Cold

Evening All,

I think I may be in the minority here - but I hate the summer, purely because I can't stand to be hot, much rather be cold - however I do love the BBQ's and Woman so I am not complete random...

That said I have recently got a new role which entails me having to work a fair amount of nights, meaning trying to sleep in a bright, hot room during the day is a most difficult task. I have already gone into the blackout blind investigation route to cease some of the sunlight that crashes through my windows - but I still have the issue of heat.

My room faces a pretty busy through road so window open = noise and lots of it, so how can i keep the heat down - things like dehumidifiers and good? Or an expenseive joke?

What would you guys recommend?

Cheap home made ac, could also get a cheap solar powered pump from a garden centre and itll, be even lower in running cost.

I just chuck bottles of water over me, does the trick.

Get a spray bottle, fill with ice cold water, lie in bed nekkid, and spray it toward the ceiling.

Air Con units appear to be relatively expensive and noisey - I dont mind the cost as much, but the noise on the reviews I am reading are not promising.

The more expensive ones aren't as noisy, unfortunately it's the only real way to cool the room.

Unfortunately not, I have neighbours from hell, screaming kids in the backgarden at 9am on sunday so can't open the window.

However my bed design means it wont be able to intake the air to blow - and even if it could the room is hot and ill be pumped with warm air too!
