I have picked up a cheap PSU power supply but it doesnt have a PCI-E plug.

Can i just buy a Molex to PCI-E adaptor?

Would it be enough to run one of the new graphics cards around?

Thanks

Most new high end graphics cards require 2 PCI-E power connections, usually 2x6pin or 1x6pin and 1x8pin.

I believe its much safer to use connections directly from the PSU than molex adapters, especially if you were to use two PCI-E connections powered by molex adapters. I think the adapters are for if you have an older PSU with only 1 PCI-E connection to make up the 2nd, not really for powering both.

And in all honesty, a PSU isn't where you want to skimp on money, just advice.

It's a rubbish PSU that I wouldn't trust with a very basic system, because of little if any smoothing of ripple and other nasties. It's not powerful enough to run any graphics card safely imo.

If the PSU you've bought has no PCI-E connectors its pribably rubbish or not even powerful enough to cope with graphics cards £100+. Also whats the Amps on the 12v rails.

Oh ok. I was only going to use to save money but I guess I will have to look around for a bargain on MM if one pops up.

By the way, im not looking top end graphics card, more alone the lines of 8800, 4***, maybe a 250/260 at a push as its for a small computer build.

I would'nt be using an EZ-Cool psu even on a super slow budget system. They are terrible. Never ever try to save money on a psu. It is the single most important component in a pc. If a cheapo one fails it is likely to take the rest of your pc with it.

When you can buy a quality psu such as the Corsair CX400 for £40 there is no excuse.
