Your scariest theme park ride

Not sure about the scariest, but my favourite has to be the Anaconda in the Gold Reef City theme park in Johannesburg.

Great inverted roller coaster, with a double corkscrew and inverted zero-g loop :D

I probably enjoyed it more because I was in Johannesburg with work and was staying at the hotel in the theme park, but had 1/2 day spare before my return flight so dropped in and spent the morning there for about 80 Rand (£6)

Well I get worried on fairground rides as they aren't safe and hurt you. :p Fine with most at theme parks to be honest. Although I got quite a bashing off Corkscrew at Alton Towers, I was scared I might have been slammed to pieces I guess!

Tree-tops rollercoaster in Oakwood

because it's about 17 years old now, branches hit you in the face, and the track now shakes, feels like you will fall out

i hate theme parks and all rides I have a real fear of heights so the scariest ride I have been on is the pirate ship at Pleasurewood, to show my young son that there was nothing to be afraid of. I hated every minute of it!

Oblivion. I got right up to the top of it with not a care in the world, and as it got to about 5 feet from the edge it dawned on me what was going to happen (I knew already) and that the feeling of free fall absolutely terrifies me. It was a horrible, horrible realisation, I just hadn't really thought it through in my head. I got on it again straight after and it was only slightly less scary :D
Lol this happened to me about 4 years ago. I hadn't been to a theme park in years and years and I thought, "pfft looks easy". I enjoyed the scenery as we ascended (front row btw) and then I saw the end. The closer I got to it, the more I realised I was going to be thrown vertically down and there was nothing I could do to stop it! The picture of me afterwords was hilarious. The next 2 times were much easier though.

The most scary ride I've ever been on is the pepsi max in blackpool. It wasn't for the actual ride itself, it was the fact I was sitting in the little seat with nothing but a pathetic tin bar holding me in, freezing from the northern wind and rain as I climbed looking out over the Irish sea on a winter evening. At the tops the track started creaking and rattling and sounded really bad, even the people behind me started panicking! So for about 3 seconds I thought I was going to die :p

I would NEVER go on those Las Vegas rides. No freaking way! Yes you can call my a pansy, but it aint happening! :o

I have been on a lot of big coasters/rides in Florida but strangely the only one ever to make me feel ill is Oblivion at Alton Towers, not particularly high or fast but gets me every time.

Unfortunatly can't go on some of the more extreme rides due to circulation problems... (any ride where I'm upside down).

Stealth while not that scary is kinda cool in that you get to the top... 200+ meters (feet?) up doesn't seem too bad, then you go over the top looking down at the ground... and know no matter what your going down... its too quick tho to be really scary as you said.

Went about 20 times around on tidal wave - kinda cool but I feel theres a lot more they could do with water rides.

The Wild Mouse in Blackpool is a great one too, scary as in 'will we survive?'

Not just me ten who hates this ride!

I'm generally ok with theme parks but I went on some swing spinny ride thing at a ***** fair in Wigan and I actually thought I was going to die and screamed like a girl the whole time!

So yer, anything were a ***** with only a couple of teeth is at the controls!

I love them, I do get nervous when i'm on them but that only makes me enjoy them more. The worst bit for me is the initial climb, where you have bugger all momentum and it feels rickety etc. Scariest ride I've been on was at a travelling fairground on the back of a lorry. It looked like it was absolutely falling apart when I was on it.

went to thorpe park last week also. Loved it :D

agree with you about slammer though. made my head and eyes hurt!

stealth and saw were awesome :)

Poo your pants?

Insanity is a really good ride- very weird as one minute your 5 feet of ground the next your 900feet. A very good ride.

x-scream isn't that great as it really slow. But i wasnt allowed on front because i was the only person on the ride.

Big shot was terrifying as it the first time i had been on a ride like that. It's a most go to if you go Las Vegas.

I don't find any of them scary I just enjoy the ones that go fast and fling me about upside down and stuff. All great fun

I went to Thorpe Park a few weeks back.

Nemesis Inferno was absolutely amazing. As were the water rides, Tidal Wave was a drencher but totally worth it.

Detonator I refused to go on. Vortex I refused to go on. Slammer I refused to go on.

I'd have been pretty violently sick if I did.

I watched as some of my friends did brave Detonator. One came off with such a pale face that he chickened out of Stealth.

SAW I didn't get a chance to go on as it was broken.

But i'd have to say - anything that involves a stupid height, free fall, and/or turning upside down or sideways is just not my cup of tea. It makes me violently sick. :(

You missed out on Detonator, I could ride that thing forever. I've been on it many times but I always get that same feeling of "oh I really shouldn't be on this!" just before you get fired back down to the ground. Better than free falling!
