I've currently got some 4gb Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 but I can never seem to get it to run stable with all 4gb in.....2gb seems fine. Pretty sure 2 of my modules are dying so I thought i'd get some replacement RAM.

My Spec: Abit IP35 Pro, E6850 @3.0ghz

Was looking to getting this Kingston RAM: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-039-KS

Pretty sure it'll fit my motherboard, but will my CPU limit its speed? Should I just stick to the 6400 type?

Thanks for any advice people.....

Think I rem reading somewhere about a dude who has same problem with an IP35pro not runnign with 4xdimm's

Give it a whirl on google, might be your board.
what i would do is put 2 Dimms in and then run memtest on those overnight, if they pass - switch to the other 2.

Also are the double sided or single side versions?

Check the modules with memtest? I've had 2 pairs of ballistix 8500 from my old rig die on me, there RMA times are pretty decent though usually around 4-5 days.

raising the northbridge voltage a touch may also help, also make sure that comand rate is set to 2T, not 1T.

otherwise, test the sticks in pairs as its me suggests to find the bad stick/sticks and get them send back to crucial (lifetime warrenty!)

Yes, definietly RMA under lifetime warranty - even if you don't use then you'll at least have a working set you can sell / save as back up.

I got the kingstons in the end. Computer's going nuts....BSOD'ing with a variety of error messages. If this doesn't fix it I think it's time for a new MB!

Been searching around for the timings for this RAM and voltages etc.

Could someone just confirm before I put things into place: the timings should be 5-5-5-15; RAM voltage 2.1V

Does that sound okay? Should I up the MCH voltage? or will it not matter for only 2 slots being used?

Also what about the DDR2 Ref Voltage? (When i was using all 4 slots for my 4gb ballistix this was at +2%)

Any help would be much appreciated guys!

btw this is the RAM i got http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-039-KS
