PS3s locked away from UK prisoners

Keeping prisoners occupied stops them a) going insane and b) causing riots, so there is a simple argument for their being able to have gaming consoles/televisions etc.

Prisoners who have to stew with nothing to do tend not to behave themselves and therefore compromise their own rehabilitation, as well as the safety of prison staff and other inmates.

This is no place for common sense.

I doubt they'll be that bothered as there's no decent games on it anyway, now if they have their 360's taken away they'll be a riot;)

What the Hell is this BS!? They get a PS3, a £300 high end games console that's of the current genereation for being theiving, raping, murdering scumbags. I get mine by working for a month and then using just under half of that salary (after tax) to purchase mine.

So my national insurance and other tax gets funneled into buying dipstick chav scum consoles... whilst they're in prision. What a joke this country is. With a shameful pansy law system.

So give them megadrives.

The article doesn't say the consoles were freebies. I imagine they have to pay for them (or get them as gifts from people on the outside).

Most people on this forum have such a skewed perception of what prison life is like, they think it's a holiday camp whereas it's far from that. Ignorance is bliss etc.

Still, they shouldn't be allowed a games console (a current one at that) in prision. They are there as punishment. No wonder none of them care if they are caught. 5 year sentance cut down to 2 anda half, then let out after 9 months anyway. Whilst the're in there they get access to warm beds, clean dorms, free TV and the opportunity to obtain PS3's. I say again. Such a pansy prison/legal system.

I know a few slightly 'off the right path' people and a large chunk of them say they enjoy prison, quoting one guy 'its a right cushy life'.

All meals, games, TVs........

Does chuff me off a bit thinking I have to pay for my entertainment when all they have to do is stab some old dear.....

In some parts of SEA people believe prisoners should be punished. So they are subjected to all manner of horrors. Constantly shackled, and locked in cells with 70 other men. Disease is rife, food has to be paid for by themselves, so many who have no money are malnourished and even starve.

Just remember, many who are sent to prison suffer far more than they were sentanced to, even in the UK. Example - imagine someone going down for debt, they were simply down on their luck and have to serve a month or so for their crime - yet they still have to endure hardened chavs, bullying etc.

You also get to go wherever you like, whenever you like, you get to earn money, you haven't had your future career prospects destroyed by having a criminal conviction, you don't have to share your living quarters with a bunch of nutters, etc. etc.

I'd love to see if you still thought prison was a cakewalk after having spent some time in one :)

You now that Prison Guards are known as 'Screws', well why don't they go back to doing what earned them that nickname? That'll keep 'em occupied and also serves to give 'em a workout too.

:O I don't have a PS3 but prisoners are allowed them? (not that I want one, it's the priciple :)). can't they do something else like the aforementioned pothole filling (don't bother stopping the traffic though). they should never have had them in the first place.

They should be allowed a PS3, but only with 1 game. Flow, I liked it, But could you imagine having only that game to play, 24 hours a day. Relaxing, Until they go utterly nuts

we should put loads of exorcise bikes in prisons and instead of them being sentenced to so many years it should be so many miles.

These bike have then got a dyno on them and they generate power, solving the issue of keeping the busy and solving the UK's energy issues. They can then be released once they have complete the set amount of miles.

This also has the added benefit of them not fighting as they'll be too tried to do anything!!

Job done :)
