Ok, I'm confused. Anyone able to explain this?

I buy Boxster, feed it nothing but premium fuel at much expense and I average 16.7mpg

I'm too busy to go to proper petrol station so I pop into ASDA, fill up with cheapo watered down fuel and my economy goes up to 23mpg.

Same journey, same car, same outside temperatures, same tyres, same driving style, same everything.

I think its fairly obvious that the driving conditions were NOT the same between the two comparison journeys.

Be that traffic, relative air humidity, temperature, wind, how much you'd had for breakfast, the amount you used your right hoof, etc etc etc...

My usual BP fill gets me 200 to a tank, I filled up at Somerfield the last few times and I'm looking at an extra 80 miles from the tank. They probably put NOS Energy drink in it.

You get 200 miles to a tank?

Does the tank have a hole in it, or do you simply drive like a loon everywhere?

Don't do motorway or long distance. I drive 8 miles to work each way per day. On a run I get about 260 including some hard driving in there. Most get varied milage figures but I do tend to drive it like I stole it, it's why I bought it in the first place :D

At least I can drive my car like a loon and get the same economy as you driving your 530 to church with your parents once a week.

I've also got a CTR and the 200 mile mark is about average, tho I've seen 300 out of a tank on the way back from the Nurburgring, and I'm currently averaging 240miles. One thing to note though is that the tanks on these are small, the most petrol I've managed to put in it from running it on fumes to full is 42 litres. So round 200miles if hooned everywhere off 9 gallons works out as 22mpg which isn't too bad considering.

Its got a crappy VTEC engine, unless you drive like a loon it drives like a 2 litre Focus.

Yeh it's crap because it doesn't suit your driving style, ok

Yea, supermarket fuel increases economy by 50%.

On this occasion I'm afraid it does, hence why I'm totally confused.

My journeys are almost exactly the same, at the same times of day, with the same driving style. Honesly, the only variable in this is the fuel.

Lol wut?

I would say a 530i would be better economically than a Type R. If someone would just like to confirm this for me?

I'm not talking about 2 journeys, I'm talking about since I've had the car which is probably almost 3 months. In that time the economy on premium fuel has averaged 16.7mpg every tankful, yet on cheap supermarket fuel it's 23mpg

I get better economy when I've had to use normal unleaded, but that's mostly down to visions of melted pistons if I drive it in my normal manner...

The tanks are 50L dry and you should get 10L when the light comes on. I daren't find out how true that is but I got 30 miles in the reseve crawling down the motorway in a jam hoping I wasn't going to run out.

@Para, the comment was aimed at Fox but read way out of contect. Posting at work in a hurry ftl
