Another NEC vs Dell thread? Which one for gaming?

I can highly reccommend the NEC. I havn't seen the Dell so I cant compare.

Only 1 more NEC in stock at OCUK though. Last chance!

Phew, I managed to secure the last one. I had a bit of a problem with my secure code for my credit card, so I was pooping my pants. It felt a bit like trying to get the last golden ticket to see Wonka's factory. Hope I don't regret this as it's a lot of money . Any comments to smooth over my paranoia are extremely welcome. :D

Congratulations on buying one of the best 24" monitors on the market (did that help ease the paranoia :p)

You won't regret it, I'm really glad I got mine just before it went EOL. I almost considered waiting till I get back from my holiday mid July, glad I didn't ;)

:) I can't wait to be part of the NEC brigade. I have an old and cheap 17" TN panel, so it should be quite a difference. Did it blow you away?

I came from a VP930 (king of 19") and the thing that got me first was how big the image was. It diddn't take long to get used to it :D

The second thing was how bright it was and inital annoyance at the big blue distacting LED power button. Thankfully you can dim both the main monitor and the power LED!

Third was how good movies looked when they were fullscreen. I expected it to be really blocky compared to the VP930 as it has to upscale it more. It was not an issue at all.

The only bad thing I can say about it is the stand is not very versatile.

Yup. If you look at NEC's website they're no longer listed.

NEC originally priced this screen at around £600 as they assumed the gaming market would jump on it but it was simply far too expensive. We ended up doing several large quantity deals to get them moving and net result was that it turned in to a good seller. Unfortunately...NEC were making a £200 loss per screen to get rid of them.

We were due to buy another batch from NEC's German stock that they couldn't shift but at the last minute an education buyer out there decided to make a higher bid :(.

A lovely monitor...

Slackworth, just out of interest will OcUK stock the NEC 24WMGX3 again?

It would appear not and never again so if you want one you are stuck at paying £600 for one now.

Absolutely, the strange thing is that it said 'order on request', so I wonder how much luck the retailer will have now?
I'm willing to bet "not a hope in hells chance" as I already saw it on their before prior to making a quick purchase here. :)
