***The Official iPhone 3.0 Thread***

Is it going to be worth me taking my MBP to work tomorrow just in case the update is released between 9am and 5.30pm?

Rumour has it the battery drain is caused by the push notifications, turn them off and the battery life improves. :)

The "thing" on the dev site is nothing but good news, those not in the know just need to Google for "dev team blog"...

The Push notification service isn't up yet, so I am not sure why that'd be the case

Yeah you can't disable or enable push notifications until an app uses it. Only then does it appear under the menu settings.

So I guess it makes sense, until it is otherwise disabled, it is always enabled waiting for that first app to use it

EDIT - If you want to test Push Notifications for anyone who already has 3.0, download Tap Tap 2, it enables it on first use, just tried it :)

I'm looking forward to:

1. Cut Copy and Paste
2. Spotlight
3. Voice Memo
4. Safari Improvements
5. Remote Wipe (seems amazing but don't want to pay for the Mobile Me service! they could have done it through iTunes Account.)

I'm still running 2.2 on mine, I'll be moving to 3.0 soon, it's already been jailbroken and unlocked, there were some issued with iTunes 8.2 but I think they have been solved as well.

i can only imagine the number of people that have been up most of the night clicking on the "check for update" button on itunes :D

Well due to the soft unlock not being released intill friday (Im guessing it's because they want to try it on a 3gs before releasing) I wont be updating intill that is released, or intill somone with a rebel sim takes the plunge first and confirms it still works :p

Going to spend the night backing up all my stuff tonight, im bound to forget something important, lol
