Koenigsegg to produce the world's most sensible airbag carriers...

Wow did a company of 45 peeps producing only 18 cars a year (in a shed) get a funding of $600,000,000.00 when other people are having trouble finding a bank willing to give them a small mortgage

Koenigsegg make gorgeous, expensive, special, fast, gas guzzling, enviromentally unfrienly cars, exactly the opposite of Saab, I find this very strange.

Because these company's generally are just side projects for huge billionaire playboys, with absolutely no lack of funding for this kind of thing.

The Koenigsegg founder was a born petrol head and started the company at 22. Before that he had an import/export business. Took them two years to make the first working conept too!

I hope they do great things with SAAB but I see a Rovery syle fate looming. SAAB has been based on platform sharing so I don't know how they're going to move on unless they stull buy the chassis from GM.

General Motors has reached a tentative agreement to sell Saab to the Swedish sports car manufacturer Koenigsegg.

Koenigsegg don't make sports cars, they make super and hypercars, but lets not fire up that little argument again :p

The Swedish government are going to bail Saab out. However they will only do it if they are owned by a Swedish company.

Can you think of any other Swedish car companies?

after reading Richard Morgan's Market Forces (very amusing dystopian future sci-fi) i've got a bit of a hankering for a Saab... maybe viable now they aren't rebadged GMs ;)

koenigsegg need a company like this

The Co2 rules for eu companies are comming

and considering they only produce one car that emits as much co2 as a dozen corsas, they need something to bring their average co2 emissions down.

Use to love saabs - one of my earliest memories is my dads bright orange Saab :) really went downhill though, hopefully they manage to sort that out without both companies going down the pan!

Can Koenigsegg not get anything like the low volume approval companies over here had in order to not be taxed on Co2? (TVRs were all regged as low volume and thus were taxed on engine size not emissions, and they were producing 1000 cars a year at peak)

didnt they have the ccx running completely on biofuel? i thought that would bring down the co2.

Why so much SAAB bashing?

I've had my 54 plate 9-3 AREO for around a month now and I love it.

Sepc wise- Full cream leather (huge seats), Cruise, Bi-Xeon, CD Multi changer and more I can't think of now.

It's the 2.0T, 210BHP, Manual and will get to 62 in 7.3 secs.

4.5 years with a list price of £25K+

Pictures but not of mine, haven’t got around to taking any yet. You get the idea though. A good looking imo.

And I paid three year old punto money for a fastish, top of the range mile munched. It might be FWD but you can't win them all.

Why do people say SAABs just a VX but you never hear people say an Audi is a Seat? Seems strange.
