Going to France without passport?

You should be able to use a driving Licence as it is in the EU.

Dont quote me on that though.

Bad idea, When I was working at Filton Airport we had a guy let a man on a flight for France on his drivers licence. The French border control wouldn't let him go without a passport.

It's funny, I could use my ID card to get into the UK ( and I did 2 years ago) even though it's outside Schengen, hell I can get nearly anywhere in Europe and even to Turkey and Iceland with just my ID card and not a passport. Bit of a shame you guys don't have European ID cards over there.

Does anyone know any better way to contact the Public enquiry agency? It's been a day and half and I can't get through to them. The phone take me to automated voice recording straight away telling me to call back as they are busy, then as afternoon approaches, they've gone off work. what the hell

You def need a passport. what's it at the home office for? I work there so might be able to get you a fax number or something to use if it within my sort of area?

Ok, I've done some nosing about for you, if you send a fax to 02081963680 with your request, name dob, nationality, address, reason and date of travel, they should be able to do it for you, might be best to keep trying on the phone too though just in case.

You even need a passport flying within the UK.

Used to fly every two weeks between London and Aberdeen and never needed a passport. :D

Maybe that's because I checked in online? I don't know but pretty sure at the check in desks they just need your name and that's all.
