Which one would you prefer to live in?

I love London but it's all a bit too much for me to live there all year round, glad I didn't move there like I nearly did! But Manchester is ideal for me, it's really big but not so big it swallows you, you can do pretty much anything you'd be able to do in London too.

You'd be wrong.

You cant just judge the whole of london on well i'm assuming a few occassions that you've been there its a huge city, with such a mixture of cultures and nice areas or is it just that you like the countryside and not towns or cities etc?

All citys are crap holes including Manchester & London & I feel Sorry for anybody that is born in one or has to live in one.
Quality of life compared to small town/village life doesn't compare but then most here are young so other things take priority.
In my teens & twenties I raved/clubbed most nights of the week so London was the only place to be, Now I am old I prefer the small town life style.
If I was to roll the years back 20-25 odd years then I'd say London with Regular trips to Madchester, In London you can club 6 nights a week no probs where as madchester only used to kick off a few nights a week. Things have probably changed no end since I was out & about though, What the **** do I know. :p
Each to there own though a.

Urm, yes I can and I have. The 'good' that London still retains is far outweighed by the 'bad'.

It's an overcrowded, overdeveloped, dirty, crime-ridden, poorly managed cesspool populated by idiotic, selfish, and very angry people. It is not a nice place to be.

London is far from what we should be proud to call a capital city. It was once nice, but all things come to an end - even your blinkered naivity.

You can however use that to compare it to other places you may have been. Personally I like visiting London, but the hustle and bustle makes me dubious about living there.

Liverpool is better than Manchester. It's the same stuff but more compact so you don't need a taxi to get everywhere. I'd love to live in London for a few years though.

Ive lived in London and Manchester (been here for 13 years now) so I will give my honest opinion.

London all the way!

Manchester is tiny compaired to London... that also means less of everything. Less choice going out and different things to do. London you have so many "free" stuff eg museams, nice parks - city looks nice (unlike manchester) etc

Manchester transport sux big time - its the worst of any major city in the UK. Yes theres a metro but thats only 2 routes. Other than that the whole city runs on buses... If you want to go anywhere you have to first go into the centre of town then out again... there are very few cross routes... there are many different bus companys all using different tickets again making traving expensive. Thoes who moun about Tubes need to suffer SLOW manchester transport. It offen takes me 1 and a half hours to get into work... manchester an 8th of the size of London, this is a discrace!

Cost of living - manchester and london are much the same... rent and food has really gone up in recent years.

Im not saying manchester is bad - I would not have lived here this long - but its not a patch on london which is so alive. Manchester on a non weekend can be really dead.
