Anno 1404 - Dawn of Discovery )-

Those graphics look proper awesome. Finally the quality of textures on 3D driven games like this has caught up with the level of detail seen in the old school static bitmap graphics games. Always bugged me there was a period where they sacrificed texture detail and fidelity just so the screen could rotate.

Just finished the first mission, thought it was great, the story is ok, but the changes they've made are really good.

This looks like it could be my type of RTS I hope I am not wrong...

Years and years ago my friend and I would play a game called Knights and Merchants and still do occasionally.

It was a lot like settlers in that you needed to build a house, and then train a certain person to do the job, ie a butcher to make sausages to go in the inn so that your town can eat. Each building was dependant on another and so on, with the ultimate goal being to fuel an army to wipe out the opposition.

It was grand and I loved it but I haven't really found anything similar.

Is this anything like that or is it more like AoE where you build a building and it just has a statistical improvement where you can resarch upgrades?

no its more like that game you liked :)

Man... the graphics are what AOE3 should have been (keep the really detailed textures, but make it 3D). The music is epic too.
I only played for about 15 mins though so I don't quite get the game yet. Maybe because I settled on a sand island first.

Really impressed with this game. That Northbridge fellow makes it so you can jump straight into a continuous game without any need for a tutorial at all. Seems to know exactly what to say when I appear stuck, without being overworded and annoying like almost every other game tutorial out there.

Looking forward to jumping on this when I get home. Downloaded the demo last night and fired it up quickly this morning at it does look stunning. Pity it's out on the same day as Overlord II as that's gonna have to take priority.
