Dramatic huh?

So I've been offered up to £550 on a set of speakers and a sub for my home theatre / music setup. It's a birthday pressy, so 'for just £80 extra...' are unfortunately a little moot :( Unless their sheer awesomeness urges me to be cheeky and offer some cash towards them.

I've got an Onkyo 606. Room for standmounts is a little limited but doable. The onkyo offers bi-wiring so this would be nice.

Main uses are gaming, movies, music. I listen to a lot of music, a good 60% is heavily reliant on good bass response. However, I rarely sit down on the sofa and absorb myself in tunes, it's more whilst I'm doing something. Good feedback on explosions would be lovely. I like volume, but not ear destruction.

Advice would be awesome! Cheers,

My initial thought is..

Q Acoustics 1010i 5.1 set, with an upgrade on the fronts to 1030i's. Not sure you can beat that for the money apart from second hand.

Thanks mate, I've done some extensive searching and they're looking fab. Going to ring the wealthier sound shop tomorrow to see if they'd do the upgrade, and the dark cherry finish (hate the black )

Any other suggestions would be great. Only other contenders seem to be the Mordaunt Short equivalent, which doesn't seem to have been quite as well received. Shame i can't find any quad lites eh :p
