What is better? Aego 2.1s, or Camridge A1 and bookshelfs?

Neither.

Go second hand on the separates and get an awful lot more for your money than an entry level CA and pair of cheapy Gale monitors.

For amps check out Arcam alpha 7 or 8 or 9, NAD, rotel for example, and for speakers B&W, monitor audio, KEF, mordant short etc. Much more sound per pound here :D

Also if you can get hold of one, look or a Sonic Impact T-amp. In terms of bang per buck it's very good... v2 is nicer but a little more expensive.

That is not a bad price. I'm struggling to find any of Arcam and NAD on the fleabay. If you think that £80 on the Sonic is far better than £80 on the entry-level Cambridge, I'll buy

I'm actually thinking to get the same kinda setup, was looking at the Creative A1 amp too with a pair of Mordaunt Short 902i's too.

How are the Mordaunts Subliminal Aura?

Seems to be quite a few Arcam amps on fleabay but not so much NAD. I'm sure it's a stupid question, but does the amp simply hook up to your PC via 3.5mm jack and into the green socket in your soundcard?

Hi AgentOrange ... Very happy with the Mordaunts good detail and seperation but a little bright which needs taming but overall lovely for the price.

You might need a sub to balance so am looking at the gale storm 8 but think that they'll be nasty so I'm temporarily using one of mine.

Depending on the type of music you listen to you might not need a sub.

Yeah 3.5mm jack to phono connection on the amp

There was a NAD C320BEE on ebay yesterday BIN for £80 with £15 delivery which was an absolute steal. Unsurprisingly, it's gone now. Keep an eye out :)

I have the Aego M's, but only because i don't have the space for bookshelves. They're good speakers, they just lack the midrange you can get from nice bookshelves.

An alternative would be a nice pair of headphones.

I have some pretty nice speakers and amp but they don't come near the sound I can get from headphones.
