1920 x 1200 Monitor (Minimum 24") - SPEC ME UP!

We have one of those at work. It's basically an el-cheapo 24" TN monitor (and with that budget that's pretty much all you're gonna get anyway). Viewing angles are pretty bad and I really don't like the weird colours (I think it has a strange coating but it might just need calibrating better, I don't know). No idea how good it is in gaming.

What are your primary uses going to be?

Going to be using mainly for games and general use. Mrs Spudbynight doesn't like the red trim on the T240 but if there is a compelling reason to go with it over the SM2433BW I think I can convince her.

I'm not sure about the others, I just chose this one because of a guy reviwing this particular model for 6 months. He said it was a great monitor for the price so I ordered it, and been thoroughly enjoying the quality of it :). The rose/red tint is just a bonus which makes the monitor look that bit more special over the others. You don't notice it so much after a while, more so when the light from outside hits it just right.

yes, and the SM2433BW has slightly more viewing angle on height.

Which is you it's a lot better than the T240.

The T240 has the most limited veiwing angles Ive ever seen on a non-laptop display. I couldn't even get remotely close to a good angle without messing up contrast at the top, bottom or both.

I've not had a problem tbh :)

I can understand the desire to have the FullHD and 24in boxes ticked - but I think you may want to look at it in a different way:
I'm assuming you want the best image quality for your money. If thats the case - this 22in Dell 2209WA E-IPS panel monitor is your best bet. It may "only" be 1680x1050, but due to the superior panel technology - the image quality will be much better than the above TN panel samsungs. Furthermore, the viewing angles are properly 178/178 - no worrying about sitting dead in line with the screen.

If you really "need" 24in then the above samsungs will do a fine job - but for the best overall package the dell is the winner IMHO. Anyone else who has had experience with the dell please feel free to chime in.

check out the dell G2410 for a good value screen. I picked one up the other day for about£250. Great colours, led backlight so no backlight bleed, wide gamut colours, 1920 x 1080. Pretty good for the price I reckon...

Id say go for a Benq... had my fp241w for 3 years now and there is no dead pixels and never failed me. OCUK don't stock benq anymore though which is a real shame.

I owned a BenQ FP241W for about 2 weeks - I returned it because the VGA output of my laptop is utter rubbish and I couldn't put up with the shimmering image. There was also some problems with green/pink bands on white backgrounds.

However, apart from these problems (which presumably would warrant an RMA anyway), it was great. Unfortunately it was discontinued a while ago so you'd have to go used if you wanted one.
