Hi Guys,

Ive posted this issue in another section a while ago but im still at a loss as what to do! Basically my system is not recognising the front panel usb and firewire ports....

Bios is set to recognise the maximum 12 usb slots, Ive tried to flash the bios and almost killed the system, Ive got the cable from the front panel connected to the usb1 slot and ive cycled it through the others, though its six pin and the board is 8, the board is the Foxconn Renaissance Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you installed the correct chipset drivers? Head off into the sunset.. opps sorry .. head off into the Device Manager and check for any irregularities.

Eveything is installed and wired up as it should be and there are no issues in device manager...

It just doesnt pick it up, I was wrong about the connections though... the two usb 2.0 cables are wired into one 7-pin plug, the board sockets are 9-pin. Ive tried the plug in both the available F_USB1 & F_USB2 sockets and nothing!

Could the front panel not be functioning because I dont have the Firewire plugged in?

Won't make any difference if the firewires plugged in or not, Sounds to me like you have a borked front usb panel. Have you checked the connections at the back of the front panel?

Having said that you state that the cable is only 6 pins, whereas a usb connection uses 4 pins, +5VDC, Data-, Data+ and a ground.

You generally have 2 usb connectors on the front of most cases and therefore you usually get the common black 8 pin usb block.
