Does anyone know anything about this uni here? Specifically their masters program in finance? How is it, and what are the job prospects afterwards? (I know they're slim anyway cause of the wonderful economy).

Also, what are the living costs there like? Could anyone give me a rough idea in terms of pounds how much some everyday things would cost?

Thanks :)

Do you like kayaking, walking, climbing & rain?

If so you're probably onto a winner.

However, Bangor is a mahoosive **** hole. I stay in the youth hostel there a couple of times a year (excellent yoof hostel btw). The pubs are manky, the clubs are terrible and it's chavtastic.

No idea about that particular course but the uni in general has a pretty good reputation if you can put up with the terrible location and the vast number of welshies.

Bangor is a crap hole.

They seem to be getting a nice bit of money recently, but ultimately it's still a (former) poly.

Really depends on what course you wish to do - I believe it's great for ocean science type courses.

Bangors a **** hole but is close to a lot of outdoor acitivity stuff and snowdonia.

Us Welsh aren't too bad, you'll only get beaten up once ;)

Cheers for the responses guys :)

To the guys who live in wales and taB - how are the prices there? How much would you roughly pay for stuff? Say the average rent for a year for 1 person staying and average cost of eating out?

Good reputation sounds nice though. It's for a friend whose asking and was a bit worried cause I had never heard of it before. So job prospects afterwords should be relatively decent?

Food is pretty much the same price anywhere? rent can be cheapish depending on where you live (i lived in Blaenau Ffestiniog (30? miles from Bangor) where some places were going for £50 a week) Mainly because it's a @#$%hole

Good reputation? Hilarious.

Good prospects? Well, I guess it's better than not having a degree...

And yes, rent will be relatively cheap.

Is a masters, so not a case of not having a degree. Just because I haven't heard of it, didn't necessarily mean its bad so thought i'd check up on it. Not that good then? Would it not be worth having one? If he wanted to work in the UK later, would having a masters from a uni like bangor help/not help at all? The general idea i've gotten here is that a masters doesn't help all that much, but taht's just what i've heard around, more specifically for law than other things so no idea how it would help with regards to finance.

Food prices I mean compared to london? He's asking me about it since i'm in the UK, but I don't really know much about wales and nor do my friends here :s

Rent prices seem unbelieveably good if you get a place for 50 :s. Especially when I compare it to London, lol. Though location does seem rather bad.
