Just wanted to bring this site to your attention, TED is a conference that is held annually in Long Beach and has now spread to Oxford and India too. Prolific and innovative researchers from many different fields in science, technology, business and the arts convene and many give presentations on ideas, new insight and forthcoming trends.

The site itself features videos of these talks taken at the conference, new material is uploaded all the time. The material is intellectually stimulating and I for one have learnt a lot, and am forever opening my mind following watching the videos.

The material itself is pitched to be accessible, so don't think someone is going to come in at postdoc level shouting in a crazy, esoteric language. I'm of the opinion that many people here will find it interesting, particuarly if you have any willingness to understand the world around you. It was infact on this very forum that the page was brought to my attention initially, but as far as I know there has been no thread explicitly promoting it.

Hope you enjoy:

Sweet, I shall he having a look when I get home. I think it was TED where they were showing some software that linked up thousands of photos up to get a 3D image of the Notre Dam Cathedral. Awesome piece of software.

Whilst at the same time showing off what multi touch screens could do with the right software :D

Just remember being on that website before. My teacher showed us the statistics data presentation called gapminder. Awesome website.

Brilliant site, thanks for sharing.

SO glad that they subtitle/caption their lectures too, as I'm deaf.

Bookmarked!
