Breaking news: FOTA to form breakaway F1 Championship!

Well, at this rate we will probably see Williams dominating F1 again in 2010. But I think even Frank Williams himself will agree that it will be a hollow victory.

Bridgestone? I doubt their contract with FIA rules them out of supplying to other series

Their contract with the FIA ends at the end of the 2010 season. They were asked if they could supply tyres to both, but it didn't sound likely.

Cooper?
Bridgestone?
Michelin?
Firestone?
Hoosier?
Dunlop?
Goodyear?
Avon?

How many suppliers do you need?

I think the time scale is to short for any company to do it.
Think of all the testing that has to be done before the F1 teams test the tires.

Bridgestone can always give the FOTA tyres via Firestone and use the exact same tyre as the current F1 tyre :)

This is looking bad for F1; they are not only losing 8 teams but also Monaco and Silverstone

Ah good stuff! Hopefully a FOTA championship would be devoid of stupid rules such as using 2 tyre compounds.

Is Bernie still trying to get Medals in for the F1 next year?

sometimes there is an exclusivity clause in contracts. whether that is the case here who knows

Thing is; Firestone are a separate corporate entity that are owned by Bridgestone - so any deal done with Firestone is a deal done with Firestone rather than with Bridgestone - allowing Bridgestone to get around any exclusivity deal by simply giving the F1 tyre designs to Firestone.
Firestone supply the IRL in USA; so at worst FOTA GP could use tyres similar to that.

Monaco do not have exclusive rights with Bernie that and the Prince man said he cannot see their being a GP without Ferrari at Monaco.

This is such a shambles between both sides that they should have sorted out rather than calling each others bluff and splitting up. Max has to go for dealing such a blow to the FIA F1 even if the pieces to get put back together again over the weekend and next week the business sorry sport is in such a mess now. I cannot help but thing FOTA have been stringing it out longer than needed as well either waiting for the FIA to truly crack or having already planned their new series.

What I don't get is that the two teir FIA budget cap was voluntary? with some technical allowances to allow the capped teams a bit of extra speed to help them compete. No arm twisting there and would it be likely a cheap car could win? The FOTAs stance that their cost cutting was also voluntary in which I think the principles would be taken on but probably ignored!

The next thing is in the real FIA championship with the 8 teams of FOTA out + N.Tech, Prodrive and Lola with drawing do they have enough teams to field 20 cars next season? I can think of the 5 that are in (Williams, FI, Manor, USF1 and Campos) + 3 old name teams (Lotus, Brabham, March)+ Superfund, Epsilon Eskaudi and err myf1dream.com. I think that the people not already accepted could be running to the hills now they won't be racing against Ferrari/McLaren and the other big teams :)

FOTA could be a very good series but they need transparency, fair play and cost cutting as well to bring in new constructors. We know how well the teams and manufacturers get on!

Iv'e heard a little squeek from inside Lola and it said, Lola will be on a grid next year, but its not the one everyone is expecting.

Lola and prodrive have said they have withdrawn and will not be in next year and "Brabham" are having legal proceedings taken against them by the Brabham family. the "brabham" team have nothi9ng to do with brabham and no right to the name,
