Im after a new horror book to read.

I like real'ish situations i.e. post-apocalyptic zombie books. Ive read most of the well known ones; world war z, Autumn and Armageddon etc..., was wondering if there is anything else out there, maybe space horror.

Oh yes, thats a real worry of mine when I wake up every morning. The real possibility that there has been an apocalypse overnight and zombies are running loose. :p

Serious answer.

Not post-apocalyptic zombies or space horror, but Graham Masterton has written some very good horror books, mostly based around demons, that he weaves into quite realistic situations.

The Devils of D-Day
Tengu
The Djinn
Manitou

to name a few

yep thumbs up for Graham masterton.
you could try Bentley little aswell.
oops almost forgot! Michael slade.

Manitou? Necroscope?
He wanted new horror books. Why not just say there aren't any? It's not like going down to Blockbuster and picking up this months latest torture p*rn movie. They just don't release horror books as frequently as they used to - just ask James Herbert, Graham Masterton, Richard Laymon etc.. Oh hang on, Richard's dead. On a lighter note, if the original poster is willing to read some back catalogue stuff, then sure, Masterton, Hutson would be my recomendations :)

Have you tried the rats trilogy by James Herbert?

This third one (The Lair) is Apocalyptic (iirc, its been a while since I read it) But I do remember them all being a dam good read :)

You have taken a very literal definition of what the OP said in "new horror book".

When I say "I'm off to get a new book", actually I don't say that often, if ever, if I were to get a book that was written 100 years ago and i hadn't read it before, it's a new book to me.

^ very possibly. Infact the OP is probably aware that horror books don't get released that often.

Here's a few that I enjoyed in the past, all by G Masterton

Black Angel
The Chosen Child
Ritual
