Now this isn't another one of those threads about players and the best team you could make, but after watching a few Premiership years lately its got me thinking. What since the start of the Premiership has been the best combination of players that have made the best team.

For me and I am indeed biased it would have to be the unbeatables, the invincibles from 03/04. A great season with some amazing players at both ends of the age scale created something truly unforgettable.

Then again I have to give a mention to Man UTD who have had outstanding teams in there dominance of England's top flight. The treble winners of 99 and last years team were very very special.

I can't really think of an overall team but I'd definitely say that Barcas attack has been the best for years of any football league. Their midfield (iniesta and xavi stand out) feeds their attack (henry, mess and etoo) perfectly and their forwards work really well together. Their defense isn't perfect but their attack more than makes up for that.

If it's a combination of players from any team since the Premiership began I'd go with Arsenals back five from 98-99, Uniteds midfield four from 98-99 and Newcastles from two from 93-94. Not necessarily the best players individually but awesome when combined.

---------------Seamen---------------

Dixon---Keown----Adams---Winterburn

Beckham----Keane--Scholes-----Giggs

--------Beardsley--------Cole--------

Good mix of effectiveness and creativity I reckon.

Alternately, a few weeks back, on the BBC site, they had one of those "pick your lineup" features, but for all the big players Man Utd have had in the last ~15 years, and even as a non-United fan, it was surprisingly difficult in some positions (I don't think Cantona made my starting XI). So out of interest, what would anyone here say is their team's best potential lineup, using anyone from the Premiership years?

I'm gonna have to think about Arsenal's. Watch this space.

For Weebull:

......................Seaman
Dixon.........Adams.....Campbell......Cole
Ljungberg..Fabregas....Vieira....Overmars
...............Bergkamp....Henry

Only doubts I had really were on the right side of the team.

To answer the OP, I'm not sure really, probably MU from 10 years ago (something like this I guess?)

................Schmeichel
Neville....Johnsen....Stam......Irwin
Beckham...Keane....Scholes...Giggs
.............Cole.......Yorke

The 'Invincibles' of 5yrs ago were a very good side also, but I just think they had a weaker goalie (Lehmann) and not quite such a good combination in midfield. First choice strikeforce was arguably better though.

I'm far too biased to go for anything other than this:

Seaman
Dixon Adams Campbell Cole
Llungberg Viera Pires
Begkamp
Wright Henry

Off the top of my head:

Martyn

Mills Radebe Woodgate Harte

Bowyer Batty Strachan McAllister

Fowler Viduka

Yeboah
Robinson
Kelly
Bridges
Dacourt
Ferdinand
Kewell
