On yeah, was delivered today, best 360 game ever, won it on auction for £5.60

Downside is it wont install to the hard drive

Yes, it is unfortunate because the Crackdown disc does get a good thrashing. I am hoping they put it on the Games on Demand list.

No, whilst playing. It doesn't slow the game down any but there is wear and tear on the DVD drive - it goes mad at certain points.

?

It gets a thrashing while being installed?

He means the disk gets read a lot during normal play (thrashed) so it would be beneficial to install it to HDD, which is not possible, as you have learnt.

It can't be installed onto NXE, I forget why.

It's also one of the few games that requires a HDD to play multiplayer. I always thought it might be something to do with that.

I'd read that Crackdown won't install to HDD because of the Halo 3 Beta on the disc. Could be rubbish but seems plausible.

EDIT - btw put this game on for the first time in 2 years, after getting inFamous for my birthday and deciding I'd like to finish this game first. Great game but I never finshed it, because I tired a little bit of the repetitiveness. Nearing the end of the second island.

Crackdown is one of my favourite games on the 360 :) playing through it all with a friend in coop is great fun. I did this at the beginning of the year and we basically just whored through all the achievement points, all the missions, all the skill points etc

Roll on Crackdown 2 :D

Tis a really fun game. Unfortunately i completed on an old gamer tag and still haven't got round to the completing it on the gamertag my whole house uses (easier paying for one Live sub than 3!).

Must get round to it sometime.

i think crackdown is the sleeper hit of the 360

sure it could be technically better (2 player local co-op for example) but the basic premise/usp is superb. its like a cross between gta and tomb raider without the "faf"

i got the crackdown disk with halo 3 beta. some said this was a way to get more sales of crackdown than were deserved. these people were foolish and possibly simply wrong

sorry for the rant. i aint a fanboy normally, but i agree with the original post in that crackdown deserves more love than it gets

I was late to the crackdown and its fun and overs so much, its simple, reminds me of the saturn days but offers so much without being too complicated.

Thats what I love in games, GTA 4 was just too complex for what it offered.

Microsoft found that by October 2006, the game had fallen into the bottom 30 percent in test player reaction of all games currently in testing, and the bottom 50 percent in interest, though the numbers improved after a month.

To help the struggling game, Microsoft decided to package the Halo 3 multiplayer trial with the game. "It was a great boost", said Wilson.
Jones also was positive about the tie-in with the Halo 3 trial; "We kind of knew Crackdown would need as much help as it could get to get into players' hands ... Like we've always said: It's a game player's game. It's not something that's going to sell in screenshot. So [the Halo 3 beta] was good".

i read at the time somewhere that MS were not that impressed with Crackdown and decided to put Halo beta with it to increase sales, fortunately the game came together in the last few weeks of development to become the classicc most of us know, but by then MS had not took up an option on Crackdown 2 so the devs concentrated on APB.
