I ordered this card last week 4870X2 Asus Tri-Fan but i have decided to send it back to OCUK to get a full refund becuse the card is just crap at clocking and i want more graphical power from my 4.2ghz I7 system

So i ordered 2x XFX ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
thank go they where under this week only becuse im only paying the diffrence of £40 for the upgrade.

but i think i have made a mistake im not sure my PSU is going to be able to run both cards

its a galaxy 1kw psu new rev, it runs the 4870x2 perfectly though im unsure of the power draw of 2x pcbs instead of 1pcb

also does anyone have this card do they overclock good, hopeing to get at least 950core 1000 memory

and what about the cooling of these cards are they hot ? like the 4870x2 card

Well i have been reading up more and it seems 2x 4890s vs 4870x2, there doesnt seem to be that much of a performance improvment,

what are your thoughts guys, should i just keep the 4870x2 ????

2X4890 are faster, are more flexible & will have 2 full x16 PCIE lanes each depending on the mobo.

mobo Tpower x58

2x pci 2.0 lanes 16x though this board acctualy has 3 2.0 16x lanes LOL

arhhh i cant make my mind up wether to go for it or not gotta do more reading

does no one in here have 4890 crossfired cards than have had a 4870x2 previously as they would be the best help

Never mind guys. im just gonna keep the 4870x2

im sure it will blast its way though most games untill DX11 cards come out in october/november.

I cant see anything not running on it tbh, though the 4870x2s are getting long in the tooth :/

So really you were just getting a little upgrade itch in the end. :)

The 4870x2 should hold out NP on your Nec MultiSync 24" 1920x1200.

The same way that i should have done to find out what mobo you had through the way of Zardon

Keep the 4870X2.

hehe
yeah im just gonna keep the 4870x2 + its the best 4870x2 you can get, it may not be a great clocker at only 800/1020 but it is cool as hell

75c max under 80% fan speed playing crysis :D

I'm running a 800W PSU with 2 x Asus 4890 cards. 950/1k runs EASY, I got to that without raising vcore. Might be advisable to raise it a tiny bit though, not sure if it was 100% stable. Got crashes 2-3 hours into a game where the GPU turned off, could have been driver issue though.

*Edit* Sorry, didn't see that you wussed out :D

I personally think you should keep what you have. I am keeping my 4850 even running at 1920x1200 till the new cards come out. I don't want to buy a card now and then get the "omg look at the shiny new cards" in 3 months time or something.
