Silverstone- Great Britain Grand Prix 2009 - Race 8/17

Remember there is one driver ahead of Button who doesn't usually finish a race ;)

I reckon he'll finish 2nd today.

Welcome to race day for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the eighth round of the 2009 FIA Formula One World Championship.

It will be partially cloudy again with an ambient temperature high around 17 degrees Celsius, and some chance of showers.

The race will run over its usual 60 laps of the 5.141 kilometre (3.194 mile) circuit, or 308.355 kilometres (191.600 miles), and starts at 1300 hours local time, which is an hour ahead of GMT.

Managed to miss all the practise sessions and qualifying due to work. However from the bits I saw on red button last night its looking awfull good for Red Bull. As much as I would love to see Button win this I cant see it happening unless both the Red Bulls have some sort of reliability issues. We know the Brawn is quick and that Jenson is light compared to those infront but I think he will struggle to make it too and past Vettel and Webber. Heres to hoping we get a fantastic race and maybe a Webber win, would be good to see.

just got a sms from a mate at silverstone, she won a signed barrichello helmet on silverstone radio....

When i went a couple of years ago i did the competition on the Radio, won a pair of tickets for another Silverstone event of my choice, decided to play on and lost, ended up with a hat instead

Anyone used the official F1 app for Iphone?

I can't see the race live today (I am recording it though) and wondered how good the app is.

On topic...the Red Bulls looked good on quali runs but we know the Braun is better in race conditions, with warmer temps and more time I think Jenson will make places, plus they have superior stategies via Ross Braun - as stated above 1 in front hasn't a great record of finishes, and Vettel is likely to be harder on tyres than the Brauns, perhaps Rubens can Banzai him (assuming he get's off the line quickly) him into the first corner and fend him off while his tyres start to work better for him than the RBR's will be working initially

I don't think Jense will be too worried so long as he ends up on the podium given the advantage he has and he will stop winning again at some point this season, the higher the step he ends up on will be a bonus.

Don't bother they are charging £5 for the app and then you need to pay a second time if you want any other of the races.

I was going to buy it but it ends up at costing £15 for the whole season.

People actually buy crappy little apps for their iPhone?

Not as a rule, but as an F1 addict who can't see the race live today it will give me my "fix" until I can get home and watch the recording.

I've taken the plunge and am watching a replay of Monaco and I have to say that it's quite good, better in some ways to the java live timing I usually use while watching the race, it has a circuit map with the car positions updated in real time so you can see where each driver is on the circuit.

As to the value over a whole season I'm not sure but for the odd races I can't watch live then It's worth it at £3.

Anyone else think Eddie Jordan has gotten a bit better lately? Couldn't stand him at the start of the season but seems as if he's settled a bit more into the role.

People buy massively overpriced cars from carcraft, it's all relative. I think it's not a bad price to pay if you have no other way of viewing the race[i assume it shows the race?].

It's showing a graphical (quite arcade like) representation, you can select which car to follow and zoom in and out - good enough for today as I am missing my first race in about 4 years.
