So last week I did some washing, hung it up to dry, and then took it to my room and stuck it in a heap. Yesterday I decided to put it all away. Halfway through, I found what looked like the spent skin of something on a pair of shorts. On close inspection, next to this was a small, white elongated blob that recoiled when I touched it.
I grabbed both shell and beast in a tissue and slung them out of the window, as the option to kill them with fire was unavailable.
This brings me on to my questions;
1) What was it? Initially I suspected a baby woodlouse, but after a trip to Wikipedia I'm thinking a maggot.
2) Why did I not find any more? I was under the impression that insects reproduced in large numbers. Is this pair of shorts covered in eggs then?
How did this survive attached to my shorts; they aren't exactly a great food source?
Help me solve this mystery!
