Silverstone- Great Britain Grand Prix 2009 - Race 8/17

Despite some aparent drama with Jensons car bottoming out, the Brawns are still looking handy to keep pace with RBR. They were just caught unaware this weekend and I think missing out on the British GP win will fuel Jensons fire to make the most of practice and quali in the coming races.

Looking good for a front end battle though!

Good race, Well done to the RBR team, Enjoy your Bonus and BBQ tonight CS|Nuts and team :D

Fair play to Barichello though, coming third with a bad back is v.good.

As I said before the race Red Bulls pace was 1 second per lap faster than anything else. That was the most dominant victory of the season.

All the fuss about Red bull eating tyres proved to be BS and the Brawns are no better or worse than anyone else in dirty air.

Overtaking working group my backside, this season has shown that diffusers need to be banned full stop. Every race has been a yawn fest since the false dawn in oz.

Congratulations to red bull, Cs if you get to have a word with Vettel give him a clip for the schummi jump. That will win him no fans and tell him to develope his own personality.

I fear the worst now for Jensons title. The red bull was way too fast in cooler and wet conditions. I'd bet atleast 3 of the last races are wet.

I don't think Jenson has enough of a lead to hold them off.

Hamilton and Alonso had some decent racing and overtaking, as well as Kubica I think.

Some fantastic coverage from the BBC today, watched most of the build-up in the pub minus sound and was very impressed with the pit-stop feature. Watching the post race and they have managed to get all the right people. A big congratulations to the RBR guys, not put a foot wrong all weekend and after Vettels lap yesterday the win was almost a certainty. Shame for Jenson though but he did well to get back to sixth and dont forget all points are good points. Roll on Germany, Red Bull have made a big step but how big remains to be seen with a Brawn that didnt seem to like the conditions all weekend.

You will always get a small bit if the circumstances are all in alignment. What I'm talking about is the number of potentially excellent races that have been destroyed this year as soon as a car gets with 3/4s of a second.

The tyres get wrecked, the cars understeer and slide like a beehatch so it makes more sense to not bother.

The same with the red bulls earlier in the season, the only way to make the advantage if by jumping in pitstops.

The whole idea of the cars back end re-design was to help overtaking. Then they curiously allow these diffusers purely because it was a different car winning. They need to be gone for next year.

I disagree, look at the 2005 seasons - there was plenty of overtaking moves by Alonso and Schumi on each other and on other people (Schumi on Button at Imola; and then neck and neck with Alonso) - or look at Brazil 06 with Schumi and Kimi.

I think one of the issues is that some of the more recent tracks are just not though out properly with respect to overtaking - the classic tracks (Monaco aside) seem to have more overtaking possibilities - there is more than one line though a corner, and so on.

Seb is young he will learn, gonna teach him some break-dancing moves tonight! :p

We had a massive gain in the wind tunnel and predicted 1/2 a second a lap improvement, i dont think anyone at work expected it to be as good as it was. Adrian's new floor is a work of art and although it has been a hard slog for everyone at the factory, today it became all worthwhile.

Off for a shower before the BBQ.

What going on with this Ferrari charm offensive with the beeb today! First a personal Massa interview then they let them into their motorhome to do the F1 forum and now got a personal interview with Rob Smedley!!

In the Schumi days Ferrari were tighter than a ducks butt with the media (they wouldn't even let their radio be broadcast!) wonder why the change this weekend?

Psycho Ned, they need Beeb and the like for FOTA GP :D
Probably a lot of truth in that! Everyones been very 'nice' this weekend to the media and Silverstone. Bernie normally slags the place off without fail every year but this year nothing and even saying they'll be back next year if (when) Donnington isn't ready when last year he said there was no chance!

Definately been some 'buttering up' going on for the battles ahead over the coming weeks.

what kinda degrees/knowledge would i need to get into f1 or any kind of motorsport, i take it there must be loads of different areas.

Engineering is probably a good start, specifically one tailored more towards the area you'd like to join. Aerodynamics, Mechanical, Electronic, Software... I don't know for sure but that would seem a logical start.

That and being very clever, F1 can afford to pick and choose in that sort of field really, I doubt you'd get anywhere without a First from a decent Uni regardless.

Silverstone would probably be one of the highlights of any FOTA GP season - as 4 of the teams are based in the UK - it has a long history with F1; it is always a sell-out and has a history of "issues" with Bernie - oh and it is run by former racing drivers.
Together with Ferrari (who own Mugello), Toyota (who own Fuji) and Red Bull (who own A1-Ring) the BRDC have the knowledge of how to stage a racing event so this would be a welcome input into any FOTA dealings.

Bernie is trying to tie up any circuits, sponsors or TV companies who may go to FOTA GP (though I doubt Silverstone would sign an exclusive deal with Bernie).
