So far passed 3 of the modules just have 1 more module left and the main test on saturday.

Done my pool session and that was pretty strange but fun at the same time! Got 2 dives saturday and 2 dives sunday off of Portland in Dorset. So exited as we "might" be visiting a wreck or two as there are some quite close to shore according to my instructor.

Already spent out on a O Three 7mm Semi-dry suit with hood built in, Already have some fins, mask, gloves and boots. Just need to buy a BCD and some Regs as a friend will lend me a bottle.

Hoping to get some pics on Saturday as my friend is the rescue diver and will on the shore with a camera.

Really cant wait!! :D

I did commercial diving for a while as part of a job.
It's awesome fun. Surely you have a first dive holiday planned?

Good luck

I joined my local sub aqua club a while back and I'm thoroughly enjoying it , can't wait to get my cert

I've got to buy a hood and gloves this weekend to allow me to do a few of the assessments, I'll probably buy a set of regs soon too and probably a BCD

What are these wetsuits you speak of?

I did my Open Water a few weeks ago in the Dominican Republic, and have done a try dive in the Red Sea too. Both were too warm for wetsuits, I'd hate to think what diving in the UK must be like!!

If you get the visibility the UK has some of the best dive spots in the world (depending what type of diving you like).
If you like the nice warm shallow water, then no it's not for you :p

Saudi Arabia has been the best place I've dived.

Cant afford a diving holiday yet this course was enough for the moment, going to do flatty bashing off a friends boat and scalloping as well. He's going to teach me to spear fish as well.

You'd probably be able to afford a holiday if you don't buy loads of expensive dive equipment before/just after qualifying :p Not many people buy their own fins and boots let alone BCDs and regs before doing a fair few dives!! However, if you insist on getting all your equipment now, don't forget a dive computer :D

Passed today, Need to keep my money in my wallet so I dont go out and buy all the kit right away :D

Been told to wait for the moment by the Instructor as he might have some "decent" 2nd hand kit I can either borrow / buy :D

For a decent dive computer, you cant beet the Suunto Stinger. Had mine a few years, and other that the d9, with the air dauge receiver, its the best dive computer out there.

Congrats

Do you have any clubs nearby?

Most will let you borrow equipment or rent it dirt cheap plus you could practice various skills at the pool every so often and gain more confidence and experience, it will also give you a chance to meet other divers who may have bargains ;)
