Ive just been made redundant and was wondering if anybody can give me some advice. Will i recieve redundancy money or anything when i leave?

How many other people are being made redundant?
If it's over 199, you could get pay in lieu of a consultancy period (3 months), or, you may be asked to work this period.

usually if you've been there under a year you won't get anything.

Find a job, any job to keep the money coming in. Write up your CV and start looking for something you actually want. The jobs are there IF your willing to work for them.

Also, leave on good terms and just make sure they'd be willing to give you a reference! :D

This is how it is calculated in detail:

Years of service up to the age of 21, the employee's weekly pay is multiplied by 0.5 for each completed year of service.

Years of service between 22 and 40, the employee's weekly pay is multiplied by 1

Years of service from 41 onwards, the employee's weekly pay is multiplied by 1.5

Therefore the absolute maximum that can be awarded is:
20 years at £350 x 1.5 = £10,500.

The employee must have 2 years' continuous service to qualify for this redundancy payment. However, if an employee has less than 2 years' continuous service an Employment Tribunal has a discretion in certain circumstances to extend their period of continuous service to 2 years so that they can then qualify for redundancy pay.

Good luck, is the union pushing for extra redunancy pay?

I'm guessing £350 is the maximum that could be taken into account, but that can't be right, that'd be stupid. Surely it must just be an example.

Maybe £350/week is the maximum default pension multiplier? With any more being at the discretion of the employer.

get yourself straight to your local jobcentreplus or phone them and they will tell you everything that needs to be done/will happen. afaik they will even help sort out housing benefits and the like if theyre needed

Cheets, out of interest where is that from? I do not see where the £350/week has come from?
This is calculated by taking the employee's age, years of service and average weekly pay to arrive at a figure. However, the weekly pay is limited to a maximum of £350 per week (rising to £380 in October 2009) and the maximum years that will be considered is 20. However, the years of service also depend upon the age of the employee.
