This is the first time I'm going to try and build a PC myself. I could use some suggestions from experienced fanatics!

I don't really have any preferences. Would be nice if everything fit in an Antec 300 though.

Will you help me? :)

Have I got this right? £1200 for the base unit and then the Monitor is separate? If so, then here's a beast of a system;

Thank you for the suggestion!

I was thinking £1200 for PC and monitor. But i think I'll be able to stretch my budget :)

You're right, that is a beast. Thanks again.

By the way.. Would the SSD be for the OS?

Oh right, I'll amend my spec then. Yes, the SSD would be for the OS.

This would still be a very good setup.

EDIT: I realised I forgot the PSU. The Corsair that Sycho listed would be good enough.

This is what I'd go with personally:

I didn't add a SSD because for any realistic use 30GB isn't enough capacity. You'll get the OS and maybe 2 games on there before you'll need to start deleting to fit more on. I don't know about you but I tend to have more than 2 games installed at a time so find it a pointless investment at the moment. If you really want a SSD though I'd go with:
Samsung PB22-J 64GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive (MMCRE64G5MXP-OVB) £137.99
(£119.99) £137.99
(£119.99)

I would go Icey's spec but with the monitor i listed as it's probably the best 24 inch by quite a bit the only thing is it will be quite far over your budget but worth it.
