Aliens vs Predator 2: Requiem... I like it!

I didn't think it was as 'good' as AvP.

Agreed. At least AvP had some decent atmosphere created by the remote location, Predator iconology/ancient technology and the running theme of mutual respect recognised between the lead lady and Predator. Plus the amazing battle at the end. Requiem was like Friday the 13th part-alien.

I didn't think it was as 'good' as AvP.

If being generous I'd put them on the same level of suck but I seem to remember thinking that the first one was just that bit more rubbish, it's been a while since I watched it though and maybe I'd adjusted my expectations low enough to not bother about AvP2 so much.

I realize now that my 'far greater problems' make it seem like i disliked the film, which i didn't. What i meant was that it had problems with certain aspects of the film that i find affected its quality more than shakey cam would have. For example the plot just didn't tie in with me, she goes to Paris and happens to be abducted within hours like her dad said she would, when there's no connection other than basically she's a hot teenager?

Ah I see, in that case I agree, it's basically a decent film but let down somewhat by some of the more unbelievable aspects of the story.

Agreed, even on my Panasonic G10 plasma it was a stuggle to make out some of the scenes, on an LCD you would have no hope.

You mean there's actually something to see!!!! Been sat here for the last 40 minutes looking at a black TV :D especially bad in the glare of the evening sun.

Whoever thinks the first one was better than the sequel is mental.

I could bring up a few points, but ill bring up one... the end.

The women and predator running away side by side in silhouette.... *cringe*

This one was better than the first one by a mile. Baring the overly American teen drama bits the killing was good and fights were a tribute to the previous films, loved the ending with Miss Y, hopefully this will setup some awesome films in the future with Colonial Marines :)

Just found a mini review I did of this from a few months back!

Alien vs. Predator: Requiem

The first AvP was watchable, and at least had some of the mystery and iconography that the original Predator movies had, but this was just gash on toast. Even the action scenes in this were almost entirely filmed in near pitch black so I couldn't even tell how many aliens there were, whether it mattered that they were alien-predator hybrids, or who of the human characters had perished. Of these, some were introduced and immediately killed off. Others we learn seemingly random back-stories to that have no bearing on whether they die or not, or aren't pertinent to the dynamic of the story. I'm also concerned as to why the Predator just randomly killed even non-threatening humans, and took the time to skin them alive when he's meant to be there getting rid of the aliens. What happened to the sympathetic tribal companionship we built up in the last film? I can only think the people responsible for the film hate me personally and went out of their way to contradict the tacit knowledge built up from my loyal following of the preceeding movies.

1/10, because someone gets their face melted.

Bwahaha!

I have watched the first AvP many times, but the second only once, I guess that sums up my opinion.

I do so wish they had made a more close copy of the graphic novel, but it would have been so much more expensive, and they wouldn't have been able to crowbar Bishop into it, which I must admit I did enjoy.

The second one just didnt have anything to hold my interest, I would probably have it on as background if a few mates were round with a few beers, but I wouldn't sit and watch it again.
