You didnt notice your games feeling more snappy with single cards over the dual GPU solutions then?

Actually sounds like you have a more credible perspective as you have been through so many! I only had the X2, 4870 and GTX285 to compare to.

I had a few cards before this x2 and i am not seeing any major problems with the x2 compared to the others. recently borrowed a friends 280 to see if there was something i wasn't seeing and no difference and he didn't spot any using my x2 in his rig so maybe it is dependent on other things rather then being a gfx card alone problem.

Sorry that you had problems hughy but you do seem to be in the minority of users that have problems and no i am not saying it doesn't exist purely that for many of us that do know what were looking at it simply isn't a problem. Funny old things pc's some people can go all the time without a problem others seem to have bad luck and thats about as scientific as it seems to get.

Im sure 90% of people dont notice the Microstutter anyway, but when you do its a pain :)

Imo id get the gtx285.

I went from 2x4870's to a gtx275, slight drop in fps (not noticable) but games defintely run smoother.

That's because there are very few games that need more than a 4870/275 these days.

Crysis is really the only one, with a very few others.

I'd say we don't need much more than that until DX11 kicks off properly in game development.

On the other had, I had a 280 and went to a 4870X2 and I simply love it. It's a great card.

The only problem I've had and noticed is that the stock cooler is horrible :( So I watercooled.

I have a 4870x2 card running at 1920*1080 and i have no MS at all. I had 2 in my old machine and i didn't have issues then either.

The 4870x2 is still one of the most powerful cards out now and for the price that OCuk is doing them, you would be a idiot not to get one.

Yer man thats what I found to. Single cards for me feel more responsive and more consistent even within the games themselves. On the X2 I found games jumping all over the place in terms of smoothness depending on how complex the scene is - dont get me wrong here I appreciate that is quite a given with all cards but with my 285, the FPS seems to stay a lot more constant than jumping all over the place the whole time. Meh, if you guys are happy with the X2 thats great! Me and my mates are clearly in the minority here!

i have a 4870x2 and have done since last october. and its been an awesome card! zero microstuttering, which is pretty much only a myth now for any card. they fixed it at the software level on the 3870x2 then with the 4870x2 they sorted it out at hardware level so i have read in the past. and i can confirm this with mine, all games run at 1920x1200 at max settings with high framerates completly smoothly. its a beast! and the prices right now are phenominaly good value

I've got two since last November (yes they were £££ back then!) and haven't had any problems. :)

Aren't running them in crossfire though as I needed all 4 DVI ports and crossfire'ing them would only enable 2 ports.

Yup. It's a shame we aren't seeing PCs pulling ahead again like we did near the end of the last console life cycle, but hopefully DX11 will kick start things a bit. The new Radeon cards sound promising, and I'm sure the GT300s will be as well. Let's just hope we have some games worth playing on them.

not really true - depends on your monitor

on the same game 360 vs Pc I find a massive difference console @ say 600p vs the real deal on teh PC at 1900x1200 with AA

Yeah, we can sling the options up and add AA, but we're not seeing any groundbreaking engines any more. I think Crysis was the last of its kind.

omg tell me aboot it! Over me mates last night and loaded up GTA4 on the 360. I've been playing it a lot on PC and I was AMAZED at the difference. People **** the PC version off left, right and centre but DAM does it run better than the console (or at least on mine!).

Don't really like Vsync tbh either. Makes the games feel unresponsive to me.
