I've had this 'problem' quite a while now, never been able to work it out.

Basically I've got a good, high quality webcam that I've had a few years - Logitech MP Orbit.

And when I'm showing webcam to someone on my screen it looks clear and crisp. But if the person viewing sends a screenshot of my webcam it looks pixelated and bad quality.

Any ideas why?

(I have the latest drivers)

I believe it is compressed at a level that varies based on the speed of the connection between the two parties. If you want to test it I also have a Logitech MP orbit? abyss AT andrewbarnett DOT co DOT uk on msn.

it could be your upload or there download speed and messenger is compressing the images because of your possible slow speeds, do you have a good connection. I don't really know haven't used Windows Live Messenger in ages
