Right basically to test my HDD i used my girlfriends computers HDD, took it out and installed a few games etc to test from my own rig and then put it back in..

Not actually realising it was in Raid, this is one area ive never really touched, now its not booting up, telling me system config aint correct etc
Well loads uo with the windows loading bar but doesnt come up

i presume this is that both HDD's dont match?

How do i get this running again asap etc without him finding out ><.

How do you mean?

Your pc is in raid, or the other pc is in raid? Did you format the hard drives before swapping or after . . . ?
 
I put my Gf's HDD in my own to run off my own to test if my own was playing up, get me? :D

Ive gone to replace the HDD in my gf's none formatted just as it was originally minus the games i had just installed etc, whilst on my own..Didnt boot, and whilst in BIOS's i realised it was actually set up in raid.
 
Rofl, its late im tired, this is getting confusing, my GF is using it for a while at our flat but its actually his.

Lets just call it computer B, Computer A being my own, which is out of this equation now, the problem lies within computer B :D

Hence the slight confusion . . . .

Theres different levels of RAID. Whats likely has happened is that windows has detected your hardware and overwritten the drivers for the motherboard and hardware with the ones for your pc. Does the g/f pc boot up in safe mode? Assuming it does, re-install the chipset drivers. This hopefully will get it working.

You said raid, are there 2 hard drives in there, and is it set up as raid 1? If it was raid 0 then you wouldnt have been able to access the data.
 
Windows starts to load, and as if the login screen was about to appear, it doesnt.

I can acces all other features prior windows boot

Edit: Trying safe mode now.

I would boot into safe mode and reinstall the chipset/motherboard drivers. Or in fact, try a system restore to before you took the drive out!
 
Doesnt sound too serious if you are still able to get the boot screen. enter safe mode and try to reinstall the chipset drivers. To get in to safe mode tap f8 during boot.

When you put it in your computer did it boot up no problems? (This is not the best way to test a system by the way) By the sounds of it, it loaded no problems which begs the question what type of RAID is being used. I'd hazard a guess at RAID 1 which would mean you probably havent actually messed up the array.
 
Actually i accidently put it as my primary drive at first, then corrected as secondary etc, so it was classed as 2nd storage.

As im not familiar with raid i would know too much, i know he mentioned once or twice that hes got norton ghost running, presumebly backing up to the 2nd HDD?
 
Right well its all fixed after a long night ><

Safe mode coincidently booted with a windows CD in (although 64bit), just as i was deciding whether to format etc, and restored the drivers :)
