I'm kind of new to LCD monitors (still gaming on my 19" FatScreen

I'll be getting a XFX 4890 1GB XT GPU about the same time as this, whichever one it may be, monitor,
I'm lead to belive the 4890 Does HD, im only using the Monitor for PC games, like World of Warcraft, Call of Duty 4, Unreal ect, them kind of basic games.

So im not really sure even if the Card does HD, if the game itself will play in HD, but i do however in either case, which to play the games in 1900x1200 for big gaming viewing, (i know 16:9 is better for games like Call of Duty 4, but it lose's space in games like World of warcraft, and my desktop.)

so my question comes.
which monitor is better for that?
1) Samsung T240 24" if i get a DVI to HDMI cable would the monitor itself become HD? (it says full HD 1080) hence the question, because i'll be running in 1200....

2) if the T240 doesnt do HD, would it be better to get the SM2443BW, more viewing Angles, which im lead to belive is better in itself (it'll only be a bonus really, because im infront of the screen anyway)

You do not need DVI -> HDMI for HD. HD is officially 1280x720p and above. 1920x1080p and 1920x1200p are both HD and both can be done by that graphics card and through a DVI cable.

They are both "HD": anything 1280x720 or high is "HD". They are both 1920x1200 which emans if you run at 1080p (1920x1080) then the games will appear slightly vertically stretched. I am led to believe that the T240 has speakers in it since it is essentially a tv without the tv tuner. The 2443BW has touch sensitive controls and can rotate 90' into portrait mode. Apparently it is also thinner. About 20minutes ago I placed an order to the 2443BW since I liked the look of it better and I already have better speakers than what would be in the T240.

T240 is also girly and pink.

P.S. HD seems to be a bit of a marketing gimmick since the pc gamers have been running at it for years. I am pretty sure I had a 17inch 1280x1024 about 10 years ago.

Broken record playing time:

Get this instead

If aimed at me I just went for size over quality. I wanted 1920x1200 screen and this one appealed to me. I know the Dell is an IPS panel and therefore has better viewing angles and whatnot, but I am going to be sitting in front of the screen so I am not worried about angles. Since I couldn't afford the 2408 now I thought I would get a mediocre screen now and save the high quality IPS later when I can afford it. Also the the 2209WA is out of stock.

I was lead to belive that the red one (t240) was meant to make it look unique? lol, dont really need speakers myself, i use a amp from my Sound card, my fiance uses a 19" in built in speakers, but we juse use amps, Thanks for the input. it seems that we are sitting the same (infront of the monitor) thanks

Sorry, was mainly aiming at the OP who seems to only be considering a TN panel monitor. You clearly have made an assement of what you want for your money and have looked at all the options, so thats fair enough.

As for the dell, its not just the viewing angles but also the image quality that makes it stand out - a truly breathtaking looking monitor. It is indeed sold out, seems to be the same across the UK, either dell are doing really good business or a new revision is coming out.

To the OP, from what I have read the 2443BW and T240 use the same panel - just a different bezel and software. 16:10 is actually a very good aspect ratio for gaming I find, anything wider and the loss in height gets annoying. That said - do yourself a favour and go have a look at some reviews of these monitors + the dell 2209wa and if possible see them in the flesh, a monitor is a pretty big investment, make sure you get the best one with your money.

Thanks for the input, to be honest when it comes to monitors all i see is "a screen" i'm totaly clueless when it comes to them, as already stated. i'm still using a Fatscreen 19" which i brought over 4 years ago, maybe 5.
i will indeed take a look at the dell one and read up on it, Thanks ^^
either way whichever i get is going to be a upgrade ^^

Ages ago, I thought I'd treat myself and bought a Hyundai imagequest, which at the time was considered the best lcd in the range. It was expensive but worth it. However, since then I have been disappointed with newer lcds that don't match the same quality - there was no point in upgrading to a larger screen if the picture quality was inferior to the Hyundai. I have had to be very picky in my lcd upgrades. A friend however is satisfied immensely by large TN (cheaper) panel lcds.

Therefore, judging something as superior is subjective and relative to your past experiences. Since your old monitor is probably not the best 19", then anything new and bigger will be a significant improvement - so I would perhaps consider price/looks as most important.

If on the other hand you have been 'spoilt' by using lcd's with the better panels (sips/mva etc) then you need to maintain that experience and choose the better lcds. But this might cost you 80% more.

... 2p.

edit....

sorry, this post should have been completed with a specific recommendation, but I don't have one.

Whats the T240 like for gaming? I'm a hardcore gamer and want a good gaming monitor but keep hearing bad reviews about motion blur with them.. Opinions please?
