Windows Experience Score - is it accurate

who told u that crap?

even my 940 @ stock gets 5.9, also it's even faster than yours... it clearly shows u haven't had a phenom II system... you need to catch up with the times mate..

Really must hurt a 2009 AMD struggling against a 2007 intel

The bottom line is that clock-for-clock, Phenom II is not more efficient than Intel’s low end Core 2, let alone the Core i7

I'm sure the windows experience score was one of those features added to vista to make a retailer's life even harder.
 
OK So WEI is inaccurate but I still think my CPU is not set up right

I have run CPUZ and it showed the settings below. Now I know the Multiplier is set to x20 in the bios yet its showing just x4 here. I assumed this might be due to some for of power management so I have disabled cool and quiet in the BIOS and also set the Windows power management to high performance. Nothing seems to cause the multiplier to change when viewed in CPUZ so it doesn't appear to be Cool and Quiet as I'd expect it to leap up when the load increases...

All suggestions greatly appreciated and once again my apologies if I am asking daft questions....

BIOS upgrade? I had this problem on MA790FXT-UD5P (fairly similar board I think) and I needed to flash the BIOS to the F5 version and then Vista reported it at 5.9, 4.7 beforehand.

check to see if theres a bios update for your motherboard..
 
Thanks for the suggestions - Flashed the bios and after getting a few Blue Screens of Death I set it all to safe defaulkts or whatever they call it and everything is running much smoother. CPUZ is reporting 3200mhz rather than 800 and although its not worth much the WEI is 5.9 across the board... Now to start srewing it all up by getting on with some overclocking!

So WEI did help in identifying a problem.

anyway u see stock for stock the 940 beats the q6600.. not everybody OC's , its only very small % that do OC..

also most phenom II can OC more then the q6600.

Yep that site again & the only one that ever gets linked to in such a debate & i way out of date to what we see now.
