You do like making my life difficult, don't you? :D

I was thinking of upgrading my main desktop in about 3-6 months, mostly due to financial reasons (I already have a V12, so don't go there :p). This PC currently contains a Pentium 4 and AGP card, so it's a full-on replace job. I'd planned to do this at the back end of last year but my media box died first and forced my hand (Q6600 in there now).

Am I likely to be shooting myself in the foot (from a performance standpoint) if I wait? All this stuff about Core i5 and yet another socket just confuses me. I'd rather wait if I can (I want to get out of debt, not get into more), but I'll buy if it I must.

And finally, if I went for this, would my trusty CM stacker 810 do a good job space and cooling wise, and am I going to need yet another new PSU as well? (Current PSU - Enermax Noisetaker 600W EG701AX-VE(W) SFMA ATX2.0 SLI Compliant PSU - purchased 2006)

i5 will be slower than i7.. they are like a budget model

Yup top end i5 will be nudging the lower i7 chips AT STOCK. This bundle shows a clean pair of heels to the 975 Extreme Edition for a fraction of the price.

We have had a worse batch of chips recently, our initial batch were good enough for clock speeds well in excess of 4.00GHz but the latest batch are not quite as good.

i7 is certainly the way to go at the moment, especially as the economy has recovered slightly and taken the bundle down from £599.99. :)

Nothing this side of Christmas that would make me think twice about taking this bundle, for pure performance its the best value item currently on the site.

Yewen, I understand the offer itself can't last forever, but with i5 around the corner, how long do you think the individual components that make up this offer will be around?

Alas, I won't be in a position to buy til the end of the summer :(

The components will be around for a while, i5 is not going to replace the i7 platform.

The memory may be the only component that changes, as pricing goes down and performance goes up other kits may hit the magical position in the market.

Okay, thanks for the feedback :)

Quick question this will run out of the box right?

I will get all manuals as well.

If a part is faulty it goes back to OCUK ?

Finally would you deliver this to Belgium?

Sorely tempted by it....

my current set up is on my sig .

[panto] Oh no it isn't! [/panto]

Think I'm going to have to resist for now. I'm prone to impulse buying new toys when I spot a 'bargain' and have to learn not to do that as I'd rather get the debts cleared. Besides, it looks like one of my other machines - an 18 month old Core 2 box - is showing some bad signs (random reboots). Just flashed to a newer BIOS and backed off the overclock a bit in case it's that (wouldn't think so - 2.7GHz on an E6600 should be childs play).

Shame though - with the new work projects coming through a considerable horsepower boost would have been welcome - it's taking two hours to build even on another E6600 box.

PS - those who know me at OcUK will know what I had to turn down for financial reasons this weekend, and that would have cost a lot less than this. As it happens it turns out I could have afforded that but what's done is done. Sorry to everyone else for being cryptic - those that need to know, will.

The bundle is supplied with CPU and Memory installed, BIOS configured including the date and time. All you need to do is fit the CPU cooler following the instructions and install the other components. Just press the power button and go.

You will get everything and even the empty packaging from the components used if you wish. :)

We pre-test the bundle before shipping, if anything is faulty you can either return the item to us or directly back to the manufacturer.

We can ship it to Belgium no problem at all.

Not a problem at all mate, these will be available for a while and no doubt we will have something equally awesome in the future. :)

I will definitely be buying this bundle

next month....:(
I've had my eye on this for a while whilst I save the cash.

Apologies for the unwarranted bumpage. Just curious really - what's the testing procedure you use on these set-ups after installing everything at OcUK? :)

gonna go for this next month so mid july-ish, hopefully it will still be the best thing to go for, since i kinda suck at overclocking
