Hello.

I have a Canon 400D + BG-E3 battery grip.

The battery grip has a seperate on/off switch.

If the camera is OFF, and the battery grip is ON, does this run the battery down?

The on/off switch on the grip isn't a power switch, it controls whether the portrait grip shutter button & wheel are active or not.

Oh yes I know. But I wondered whether leaving that on all the time used the battery even if the camera wasn't on. Not sure I am wording my question very well.

The grip buttons draw no power from the battery when the camera's off.

So there's no need. The on-off switch is only really for people with butter fingers and accidently fire the shutter when in landscape. ;)

AWESOME. Exactly what I wanted to know. I shall leave that mofo switched on permanently then :)

Thanks

And that doesn't matter these days. I always used to get the odd frame of feet and ground in the film days and think "another 50p" now I just delete it.

I still always left it on though.
